The schools should "hold the power". The players are students enrolled at that school. The primary purpose of that school is EDUCATION. At least it has been. If it is no longer going to be that way then the sports teams should be a separate institution run by the school where the players are not students, don't got to classes and are simply paid employees of the school.

Paying teenagers millions of dollars t0 play ball is absolutely insane.

I think we’re in agreement on it, but on the flip side Ohio State spent a boatload of NIL and walked away with a football title. I think those donors will very much run it back.

It’s not a sustainable model, but I think we got a few more years of it before any type of real change. We had an extreme shift from schools holding the power to players holding the power. Neither is good long term.

My constipation (haha) is that it’s utterly ridiculous that you’d give him that kind of money when tougher more proven players exist for much much less $$$$. I hate what college basketball has become but I think portal players are the key to building a competitive team now. Good 3-4 star players that have much promise and are likely to be here 2+ years are a route to take I think. There are diamonds in the rough out there. Go find them!!!!
