Endene!!! Wow he's impressive and a gutsy win by the Hawks!! Didn't like seeing Nasir and Mikey getting upset but have to believe they'll bounce back and beat those guys in the dual.

I wouldn't call that an upset at 141. The kid is that good. But yea, can't let these guys hang out there at 165. Take him into deep water early even if you have to give up some points on reattacks.

where's Peterson ranked next? Mo?
10 and 16 on Intermat coming in. Probably 8 and 10-12, Ohio St results pending. Peterson will have a tough tough match, either McCrone who is a beast on top or No tank Bouzakis. MO will have a tough guy in Geog.

So when does Iowa fire the Brands and hire DT?

Hell of a dual. Two thoughts:

That wasn’t a TD at 165

We need to have more urgency when we have a leg in the air. Particularly at 141 and 174 but there were others. I know it’s easier said than done and those guys have more wrestling knowledge in their left ear than i do in my whole brain. But just an observation

Match ups are bad for iowa
I haven't looked at it. Tough stylistic match at 174 and Davino at 133 looks legit. Toss up at 125 and 157. Iowa favored at 133 (with previous issue noted), 165, 184, and 197. No Kueter sucks and likely death knell. Ohio State favored at 141. 149, 174, an obviously seems like 6 incoming at 285 (although I thought I saw Marty in a singlet.) Should be fun!

Okie State showing what world class recruits can do. Their freshmen look great, especially for this early in their first collegiate year. Glad Iowa was able to gut out a win with every match coming down to the wire except 157.

i favor OSU at 141. 149 a toss up and 157 would be favoring them if Williams sits. Same with HWT and Kueter

hawks take it imo
This is a tough match to project. Rankings are probably out the window at this point at a lot of weights.
125 toss-up
133 Iowa fave
141 OSU huge fave
149 OSU fave
157 OSU fave
165 Iowa fave
174 toss-up (throw the rankings out)
184 Iowa fave
197 toss-up
HWT OSU by Forfeit?

We need a win from Peterson, Williams or MO to win this. However, Block and Fishback are wrestling great this weekend, so maybe upset alerts there!

Gutsy win. Whew. Okie State is gonna be tough to beat for the next few years. Wrestled four TRUE freshmen and another 2 redshirt freshmen. And the 4 true freshmen are as good as our best seniors.

125: Peterson is a great athlete. Wish he didn't rely so much on his (admittedly stellar) defense. But he's crafty and stingy and can beat anybody.

133: Ayala has a tendency to be a bit sloppy, like snapping guys into his legs, walking into re-shots, and not clearing legs on takedown finishes. Ramirez was ALL defense, all the time, but that was his plan, and he is tough. Drake the aggressor and got it done.

141: Stupid, stupid, stupid, well-deserved loss. Let me rant for a moment. Do you want to wrestle or not? Why are you here? Why are you in a singlet? Why are you on the mat? You pissed away 6:30 of a 7-min match doing ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. Ironside: "Some of the most boring wrestling I've ever seen." "Zero action. May as well have just taken 3 min off the clock and started in the second." "Had the leg in the air for a MINUTE and didn't know what to do with it." Tom, send this guy to Gable to get his brain adjusted, pronto.

149: Surprisingly impressed with Block. Ironside: "What a difference a match makes (vs. Bailey). This is fun!"

157: Ironside: "We just don't have anything for him." Robideau is great...fun to watch...never stops. Would love to have him in our lineup. VV is not bad, just nowhere near this level.

165: What a great match, despite the outcome. Thought we had him at the end, and it looked like a Tulsa gift from where I sit, but Lockett is the real deal. Not gonna be easier in March.

174: Kennedy outlasted him.

184: Ferrari is amazing...wrestles slick, wrestles tough, wrestles strategically.

197: I wasn't counting on any NCAA points from Endeme. Now I am.

A few bonus thoughts:

- Tom, teach your guys how to finish when they have the leg in the air!

- Ironside: "Ref doing everything he can to let Okie St win this dual. And it's blatantly obvious." I agree. We got some hometown point shaving.

- Ohio St is gonna be tough. Looking forward to some (more) great wrestling. Let's do it! (You too, Bailey!)

Yeah this is a pretty typical brands coached team with some transfers sprinkled in if you ask me

I don't see it, but anything is possible! Seems like a HS Dual tourney move. Not sure that would work in college.

Worked against ISU two years ago when our back was against the wall. Don't know what the difference in prize money is between first and second. Don't think we see it though, Hawks win without a heavy again.

Okie States 157 is really good. If he stays healthy I would be shocked to see him finish lower than 4th. I could see him in the finals in March. To be honest, their freshman look better than the upperclassmen right now and it isn't really close.

Yeah I don’t know what they saw on that sequence. I thought it was a good shot, rolled through without control and Mikey came out. Should have been 3 for Caliendo. It was odd to me that they called it a 3 and then a 2 because I didn’t think Locket ever had control of anything.
That could only be a take down in freestyle. Caliendo never stopped rolling through and came up on top of him quickly. Also, Brands were arguing Lockett had 3 cautions, which was blown off. Shocked when the refs reversed their bad takedown call at the end, then some independent refs reversed it back to the same bad call. It took a lot of work from the refs to beat caliendo, but I bet he wishes he would have wrestled his game with constant pressure and shots. Flo even said they only see him wrestle like this against Mesenbrink. Also that stall call on Cali on top when locket wasn’t even trying to escape was just the classic PSU ankle ride they have used for years to ride the hell out of everyone, never gets called.
