Now someone posts that 2.9 B won't be nearly enough to build the Wall. Then somebody finds and posts the statements that 'funds would be reallocated from different programs to begin the work on the Wall.' Then we have a discussion about which programs should or shouldn't be touched. This is where the discussion flies off in different directions; Immigration, defense, environment, abortions, tax cuts, etc. In a surprise move the intelligence community will sidetrack the thread. This could potentially be post of the day.

Think about this. He's considering large spending cuts to the Coast Guard and TSA to pay for a wall. Let that sink in.

I expect there are over-funded and under-funded programs. Which ones? Get on that and report back.

Congress looks to start building a Mexican border wall within months
excerpt from January 6:

A number of Republican lawmakers believe that Trump has authority under the Secure Fence Act of 2006 to commence construction on a wall. That law, backed by President George W. Bush, mandated 700 miles of “reinforced fencing” along the U.S.-Mexico border along with enhanced surveillance systems that came to be known as a “virtual fence.” But the full complement of barriers was never completed, and GOP lawmakers believe that the law provides sufficient authority to complete a full border wall like that described by Trump.

That would allow Congress, without passing a new piece of legislation, to start funding the wall through the normal appropriations process. Current federal spending authority expires on April 28, and Republicans could push to include border wall funding in any spending legislation that would follow. While Democrats could well block a separate border wall bill, it would be more difficult for them to block spending legislation, thus risking a government shutdown.

This states he has legal authority. Problem is from where.

I heard he's going to charge his fans $10 a head to gawk at Hillary in prison to pay for his big beautiful wall. Many are saying it. There are reports. He'll tell us Tuesday or Wednesday.

But it is ironic that he is so concerned with domestic terrorism and the influx of illegals that he would cut USCG funding. Many would assume that a strong and fully funded USCG is more important than any wall to protect our borders.

It is ironic that an accountant would look at something like USCG "cuts" and automatically assume that it would be cuts at the core of their work with immigration and water patrols.

Of coarse, but you or I don't know that the USCG is over or under-funded. I suspect the re appropriated money is available and that the Guard is still strong and fully funded. I don't know for sure. Neither do you.

Dave, a billion is a billion. Below are a few of the roles the USCG plays. Where would you begin cutting when you promised to protect our borders during the entire campaign? Maybe they can stop harassing the drunks on our rivers and coastal waterways. Heck, quit enforcing vessel weight limits and safety requirements. Hell the nuts don't think these dumb rules apply to them and their yachts anyways.

I bet I can pick out where the cuts are going to occur from that list.

Sometimes I wonder how you graduated from any accredited school or whether you are just trolling.....you do realize that the USCG provides the law enforcement and defense of our non-naval ports including the support of Immigration and Customs? If you take the funding from the USCG for these activities, where does it go? Who then provides these vital functions?

Now I will agree I have no idea what Marine protection is but I'd guess it would have something to do with making sure ships don't dump waste into our waters. Just a guess. A noble mission I'd say.

If I were President, start with the low hanging fruit. How much would you save if you just made the DoD more efficient? Removing career bureaucrats mired in the layers of State, DOE, and Commerce departments (for example) would go a long way in streamlining government. Trump's biggest issue right now is that he is fighting on so many fronts that he is easily criticized and will likely be ineffective. He doesn't have the resources and the GOP doesn't have the resolve to fight all these battles. So therefore, why go after TSA and USCG that inherently support the platform he ran on???? It makes no sense to me Dave.

You are right, I am not sure how in the world I could ever get an engineering degree without knowing all of the inner workings of the USCG. I mean one spring we even took a trip to the beach and I just zoned out apparently.

Trump's biggest problem right now is that there are folks like you who do nothing but bellyache, ***** and whine. It wouldn't matter where he was going to make cuts, you would find a complaint because you hate the guy and therefore you refuse to apply rational thought when it comes to him.

If he cuts the Coast Guard, does that mean the @Best Virginia gets his little duck pension cut?[roll]

Ok I hate the guy but I just listed a few areas of low hanging fruit where he can make immediate and high impact "wins." Were those not rationale thoughts? Our government is bloated. We need a to take a very methodical approach to evaluate, recalibrate, and cut government. It is long overdue. Just saying let's cut a billion from here and there isn't going to work. It isn't efficient and it doesn't usually result in sustainable operations. Looks good in the short term though.

Do you really think he is just blindly suggesting cuts? I don't, I don't expect everyone to agree with his decisions but he was elected to make them.

I can answer that. He didn't graduate WVU. I know a lot of engineers and none are that stupid. He is a fake.
I got my engineering degree from WV Tech moron. Anyone who can read knows that because it has been stated about 5k times.
