Many states have a "position of authority" statutory rape, which changes the typical age.

Thats how most of these are crimes, rsther than the age. Many states' statutory rape ages are much lower than people realize.

It must be a very fine line. They weren't even in the same school. Was the kid 17 at the time of the relationship? I understand her not being allowed to teach, because that's dumb of her to even consider a student relationship to be a good idea. Don't think she should go to jail.

Would a 27 year old cop go to jail for the same situation?

Im not sure must be more to it. I wouldnt think it would apply just because she was a teacher somewhere
