Sounds like Seattle and Vegas are locks to get franchises. Not a huge NBA fan these days (not like it was in the 80s and 90s) but I am happy to see the SuperSonics again. And they better be the SuperSonics....

NBA owners vote to explore Vegas, Seattle expansion bids

The NBA's board of governors has approved a vote for the league to explore bids and applicants for expansion teams exclusively in Las Vegas and Seattle.

Seattle deserves a team. The Seattle SuperSonics had quite a following. Alas, their owner moved them to Oklahoma City in 2008, in a dispute about the arena.

I'm not a fan of any leagues having a team in Las Vegas, but it appears that once that bridge was crossed, it became a 4-lane highway for every league to have a team there.

As to @LionJim's point, there are some bad teams in the NBA. Poor management exists in every league, and the results are there to prove it. There are certainly enough kids in college, and overseas, playing basketball, to fill a roster of 32 teams. Whether there are 32 difference makers in the sport is another issue.

No disagreement. I think the set up creates teams trying to lose. If you dont think you can beat OKC then does it make sense to try to be 500 or take the Utah Indiana etc approach and just hope the lottery plays out in your favor.

And the "watered down" impact was huge around 96 after they added the Canadian teams
