My Top 30 is a Chicagoland poll FYI...@EdgyTim Please make LWE the 1 team in the state so their fans can relax about a pointless title. Anytime someone mention any team outside of LWE as "the best team in the state" it's guaranteed one of them will comment. From an ESL perspective, LWE can have it.
If I had my choice, I would much rather fly under the radar versus having every team gunning for you. Just my opinion.
I don't think it's the ranking, I think it's the hyperbole. To be fair similar hyperbole was lofted onto LWE last year, but they clocked 10 of 13 opponents and didn't have a close game until the semis.@EdgyTim Please make LWE the 1 team in the state so their fans can relax about a pointless title. I thought after a week of talk after the NV game it was a worthwhile question...I don't think it's the ranking, I think it's the hyperbole. To be fair similar hyperbole was lofted onto LWE last year, but they clocked 10 of 13 opponents and didn't have a close game until the semis.
I think @EdgyTim may be trolling the board with the title
LHS He asked a question and I had an answer. Some of the teams I think could stop ESL are Loyola, MC, HF, Bolingbrook, and Naz. I don't even have to mention LWE to have a host of teams that I think could stop them.
Quit having your hate get in the way.
Nail on the head, Bones! It has nothing to do with ESL. It has to do with a poster or sometimes multiple posters that state that a particular team is “unbeatable” and other teams are “dodging” or “scared” to play a particular team. Don’t be a GoldenDomer’93 i.e. HF 2015. (Note: this is not aimed at any specific poster)I don't think it's the ranking, I think it's the hyperbole. Come out to Raider Way this weekend to see her and watch the turf be dedicated! Why they dedicate before a LWE game is beyond me.Susana Mendoza.

From what I have read, I dont think Warren can match ESL athlete for athlete and I have a tough time calling the #6 ranked team in the area an underdog that people are sleeping on.Warren can match any team athlete for athlete. Their strength program is one of the best in the state. Keep sleeping WTHS. Underdogs do bite.
I think to call any team uncatchable or unbeatable is a bit premature. LWE was the latest victim last year. Great team that had a bad day against a good team.
Same can happen to East St. Louis or any other team that wears that mantle of the next great team to come along. Don't get me wrong, I think its cool to have really good football being played in Illinois. However, I think we have to be careful in throwing around titles like uncatchable or unbeatable or whatever moniker we want to use.
And for the record, I am a warren parent and they are really good. But I am not going to put them in the untouchable, uncatchable or unbeatable mode. Even if they run the table, there is always someone out there, that on the right day, can get you.
Im just going to say if you give up 48 points to NV you do not have a good defense period!!!I watched NV game and was nothing spectacular. They have a good qb and good RB with good size and speed,No super star recievers. So ESL is going to have to score 40 points a game
Based on empirical evidence (last week's game at NV), it seems to me that any team that can beat NV by 3 points is now a candidate for staking the claim that they could beat ESL. And by the laws of transitive property, any team that beats a team that beat NV by more than 3 points also can stake a claim. Now, let's see what happens over the next 11 weeks.

That Warren/Neuqua first round playoff game last year was a sledgehammer game. A slobber knocker, as some call it. I wasn’t there but saw it on NFHS.Warren can match any team athlete for athlete. Their strength program is one of the best in the state. Keep sleeping WTHS. Underdogs do bite.
ESL fans need to keep in mind that once the conference chose not to allow them to move up, the doubters increased. Any 5A/6A team that receives early season accolades like the Flyers have are going to generate a number of doubters on this board. I've seen it numerous times over the years. This! Last year it was LWE, this year it's ESL. Some posters were easily triggered last year by any talk of LWE possibly losing or not being the absolute best and we're seeing that this year with ESL. It'll probably happen again next year too. It's keeps the forum that much more interesting. lol

Teams don't always have their "A" game. Also, with all the early season publicity, ESL is going to get every team's best game. After a long trip, ESL beat a quality 8A team when their defense was not at their best. Winning on the road without your best stuff after a long road trip is the sign of a very good team, IMO. LWE couldn't do it last year in the semis. ESL was able to do it in Week 3. Kudos to the Flyers.
The Flyers have great talent. I didn't want to label them as a "great" team so early in the season and give the doubters additional fodder. If there is, then there's likely some extreme bias or something going on because that's just nonsense. On the other hand, simply labelling ESL a "very good team" isn't enough for some either.

Bravo - they do pass the eye test, for this point of the season, when looking at the full body of work.
Every once in a while, Tim likes to toss a grenade into the chicken coop, just to watch the feathers fly. A mere three weeks ago, he said that he wouldn't be impressed by the Flyers until they consistently showed they could beat MC and a few other teams, which they haven't done. The hype last year was as bad as it is this year. In the buildup to the Carmel game, the prevailing opinion seemed to be that ESL was too big, too strong, too fast. What we saw behind the curtain was an undisciplined team that Carmel defeated handily for the second year in a row.

This guy speaks facts! That Warren/Neuqua first round playoff game last year was a sledgehammer game. A slobber knocker, as some call it. I wasn’t there but saw it on NFHS.
This ESL team is a completely different animal. 100%. Their D was not very good last week. Was it travel time? NV O? Who knows, but it could improve based on what I saw. They only gave up 17 to a really good Batavia team so I’m sure the real D lies somewhere in between.
What I saw of Warren’s offense leads me to believe that East Side would win that game. Not a definite but that’s how I would lean. I would pay top $$ to see the Warren/Loyola/MC/LWE D against the Flyers.
