State is dumb, they should have paid everyone $40,000, then they'd walk like Unx did.

In all seriousness, you have to kind of feel bad for State. Even when they do cheat, they still suck. The worst Gottfried year, and the one that got him canned was the DSJ year. The good news is, it looks like they've hired the same lawyers UNx did, so maybe they'll get away with it.

The panel found two violations in this case – the former department chair and a former curriculum secretary failed to cooperate during the investigation.

“While student-athletes likely benefited from the so-called ‘paper courses’ offered by North Carolina, the information available in the record did not establish that the courses were solely created, offered and maintained as an orchestrated effort to benefit student-athletes,” said Greg Sankey, the panel’s chief hearing officer and commissioner of the Southeastern Conference. “

Just lawyer up and tell the ncaa to F off. Does appear the level 1 is on Gottfried and not ncsu. Ncsu just getting failure to monitor. As a state grad I always questioned why they got involved with gott. I hope they don’t get hurt too much by this because I love the pack even though I grew up a duke fan.

We dont need that BS propaganda motivated from the NCAA by lawyers having millions thrown at them by deep pocketed old money UNC CHEAT RAMS CLUB members. We've heard that baloney and if you choose to believe it, frankly we dont give a tinker's you know what.

When Dean Smith established AFAM classes in '92 it was in response to back to back nattys by Duke. El Deano designed it to get players w/4th grade reading levels admitted and thru school. He was NOT concerned about the student body! Roy rode that tidal wave to at least two nattys, and the '17 title will forever be tainted because UNC should have been on probation.

While it is true AFAM started in the early ‘90’s, it had zero to do with duke or the hay days of Mikes success.
But, it’s a cute myth, constantly perpetrated by duke and uk fans who believe it was nefarious. The truth is far more complicated, but for the sake of simplicity, I’ll leave it there...
The NCAA cleared UNC of wrong doing and our trophies are just as shiny, and legitimate, as the day we won them.
Good luck with this years “best team ever”. I’m sure you’ll eventually win something of significance with one of them.

"Zero to do with Duke, " and K's back to back nattys. Why don't you stop kidding yourself and our board? Dean was DESPERATE TO MATCH K's record of what 7 final fours in 9 years, and back to back nattys. Look "Sheed" and some of those other guys do not see the inside of your buildings w/o AFAM.

I once talked to the author of the book "Cheated" (you should read it btw). Great coffee table book I heartily reccomend to all Tar Heel fans. Anyway he told me Wayne Walden (Roy's academic supervisor for the players) had an office in Smith Center right across from RoyBoy. He said the two were "thick as thieves" and Roy knew everything about the clustering of hoops players in AFAM classes, etc the whole ball of wax.

You had John Swofford (as ACC commish) quarterbacking everything he could to help his alma mater, ex UNC player and Big 10 commish Jim Delaney slugging away, and an NCAA president Mark Emmert who for some reason has a love affair with UNC....

Throw in the mega millions spent on lawyers, PR campaign, etc and sure the committee JUMPED at the FOOLISH NOTION about the classes were intended for all students. UNC even admitted to the accreditations folks (SACS) the classes were wrong, yet the NCAA swallowed the UNC lawyers crap it was a typo.

Face it, McCants spilled the beans, Mary Willingham had the guts as a tutor you were admitting great basketball players with 4th grade educations, and its a no brainer what went down for 23 years. You talk "myth???" Big revenue sports athletes going to Carolina to get an education under those circumstances is the "myth!" OFC

They are really a group to be pitied. Just like those who were relived when o.j. Gordon off. It doesn't hide the fact that he did it. unc cheater u got off scott free but it still doesn't the hide the fact that they
off with the biggest violation ever. I dont care how many cheater fans post here trying to justify any little thing they can. If any other university had done the same thing the cheaters done they would be calling for the death penalty. They need to shut up, put their tails between their legs and go home and stay there. Unpunished and innocent are two very different things. I don't think there is anyone (even you, despite how naive you seem to be) who genuinely thinks UNC did nothing wrong. Or maybe you just are that dumb, but I'm trying to give you the benefit of the doubt.

I hope NCSU gets off scott free just to see the reaction of unc cheater u fans. What unc did and how they did it is a disgrace. All premeditated and planned out well. It wasn't just one or two people thinkinget the AFAM scandal up it was a lot of high profile unc people in on it including some of hold pretty powerful offices in collegiate sports. Shame of every disgusting one of them and the unc cheater u faithful have the gall and the nerve to come in here to DI and minimize it. But they can't help it. They are cheater u fans. It's their nature and I wish they would just stay at home and make their post to those who really care. OFC

"The infractions committee said it could not pursue an academic fraud bylaw violation because NCAA rules give universities the right to determine whether fraud occurred on campus, and UNC officials had asserted the classes were legitimate under its rules at the time. UNC has since adopted reforms that prohibit them."

Well, it's soon to be closed by the "UNC rule."
