Ncaa in Lexington?

Is KY allowed to play in Rupp in tourney? I know in the past it wasn't allowed but I saw someone post if UK plays well enough they could be selected to play there.
If not, where do most see UK playing first 2 rounds?

We have played tournament games in Lexington within most posters lifetimes. 1984 would be the most recent, beat Illinois to go to the final 4. Schools stopped being able to host around that time iirc.

We all know the big blue mist will get in the NCAAT especially if they’re playing within a reasonable driving distance. So Indy, Louisville, Nashville, Cincinnati, etc. UK fans will dominate.

Only in sports that need help drawing fans to their games. Not applicable for the Men's NCAA-T.
I remember when in the 80's every year UT would have the Women's Regionals in Knoxville and my Hilltoppers would have to go there to try and make the F4.

I believe the rule is if you play more than 6 games in an arena, then you cannot host in said arena. Perfect example of that is Villanova. They will play 6 or less games in the 76ers arena in years the ncaa tournament is in Philly to make sure they are eligible to play there.

That is a two team game/match. Tournament locations in the first round (you mentioned opening round) have many games and many teams they are hosting, so only one team would have a home advantage out of what, eight teams?

I caught a couple Elite Eight games the year Duke got knocked out by Indiana and it was a great deal and some excellent games. Tickets are probably crazy more expensive but if you can snag some tournament tickets for any game you should do yourself the favor.

I was cheering for IU that night. Duke got A.J. Moye-d and it was spectacular.

Softball, volleyball, women’s basketball, and baseball all have 4 teams in each home location in the first round.

It’s strictly to do with attendance. Those sports don’t draw enough for neutral site first round games.

In 1986 LSU beat Purdue in Baton Rouge even though Purdue was the higher seeded team. IIRC, they put an end to teams playing at home after that.

No, host teams cannot play in their own venue during the tournament. If UK is a 1 or 2 seed, they would get either Cleveland\Raleigh in the first weekend and either Indianapolis\Atlanta for the Sweet 16, Elite 8.

You have to figure either UNC or Duke would get Raleigh and Atlanta if either are a 1\2 seed. Leaving Kentucky with Cleveland and Indianapolis.

If UK gets a 3\4 seed, we could still end up pretty close to Kentucky geographically if we are the overall top 3 or top 4 seed.

I was the biggest non-Hoosier fan in America that night. Was also a huge Villanova fan one night.
