What if getting AJ meant Angelo would come, too? Could we manage 2 years of AJ?

On a scale of "run a clean program" to "win at all costs", I lean much more to the win at all costs side. If I thought taking AJ would help us get back on top, I could live with the bad press and public perception. Winning usually takes care of those problems.

However, I do not think AJ would help us run down PSU. For one thing, his wrestling style does not lend itself to massive point hauls at NCAAs, even assuming he places high. More importantly though, he is going to occupy a disproportionate amount of staff resources that could otherwise be spent improving other wrestlers. I also think he could hurt us in recruiting/portal. Now, if he brings along Angelo, I could be talked into getting on board. That might tip the scales for me.

In any event, I think it is a moot argument because I do not see him wanting to return to Stillwater. Too many scars with the community, courts, law enforcement, and school.

You can roll in how ya want, but if he came back and had a season like he did this past, you would be good with it. No BS with him this past season. The most BS from him this season was him being given another shot from a team and him bailing on them. If he bailed to OK State, and had the exact same season he did this past, all of you would be good with it.

IF AJ was to come back to OK State, can you imagine him after a year of being coached with the coaching staff at OK State now? Lights out!!!!!!

Adding AJ and the self centered clown show he brings to town would fly in the face of any “culture building” that’s going on in Stillwater. I think about a lot of the quotes guys had in media availability the season after they kicked him off the team (which was prior to his SA), and reading between the lines you could tell he caused a lot of problems in the locker room.

Any of you saying you would not welcome AJ back and his points come nationals, you are lying to yourself. If he came back at 97 and Merrill was at 84, that would be pretty F ing solid! Plus the recruiting classes coming in! Cmon man!
Im not lying to myself when I have nieces and close friends daughters at OSU that were terrified of this guy. He is a threat to women and he is a ******* cancer on a team. He was hated by so many of his teammates while here. He would not be welcomed back by the fans or the administration for that matter.

I second Okie Pat. Maybe he’s changed, for his sake I pray he has but Stillwater is not the place for us to find that out. I don’t want that kid or family anywhere near our program or the young girls on campus. Anyone who thinks 22 MFing points at nationals is worth it has lost their ever loving minds and possibly their soul.

I’d rather not have a 97 qualifier than AJ

This is the kind of dramatization I come here for.

Swiderski will not beat Jamison.
Facundo will impress and is the best wrestler in the portal. Ferrari will make the most noise though.
Those who are thinking that Facundo will wrestle 174 need to remember at the beginning of this year Facundo wrestled off with Kazak for 157 and apparently from another post won 1 match and lost 2 very close matches. If he could cut to 57 it would not seem to me, he might be a little small be a 174.

You seem bad…

But he would be a “smaller” 74 if we’re being honest.

If you had to pick 2 out of the following 3 OSU wrestlers to wrestle at the championships at 149lb and 157lb which 2 would you pick?
Jamison, Swiderski, Travis
Jamison and Travis. Swiderski is too small for 57 and too big for 41 without consequences. He got hurt cutting and wrestling at 41. Jamison wrestles awesome in the beginning of the year but the cut gets to him over time at end of the year. He’s a a different wrestler. I love Jamison at 49.

Do you think Jamison is big enough for 157?

The guys over on the PSU forums seem to think 57 was far too much of a cut for him and that his best weight would be 65 or 74. Sounded like they didn’t think he’d be able to sustain a season at 57.

He started the year intending to go 74 and then made a massive cut to 57. It was a last ditch effort not his sweet spot

Jamison is the most talented but Travis is an absolute dawg and has those intangibles that you can't teach. I would take a team full of Travis Teague's all day
Swiderski is the only AA in the group. Tagen is talented but whether it’s in his control or not, there’s always something keeping him from reaching his potential. But yes I’d love to have Teague at 57. We need to hang some more weight on him though.

He is on a Title quest…that’s the only convincing he needs.
Dee's undersized at 174 imo. When he wrestled up this year it was to get better competition against fellow high schoolers, that's according to him. Can he bulk? Sure, but I don't think that's in his best interest and I would rather not add any additional challenges to the true freshman.

I think Dee could do great at 65 next year, probably top 3. There’s Mitch who’s on his own tier, Mikey on his own tier below, and then everyone else. I could absolutely see Dee beating Garvin, Steed, Mantanona, Minto.
To me the most frustrating tier almost has to be tier 2. Kill everyone else and get killed by the tier 1 guy. Aka the life of Dustin Plott. My freshmen year of high school I got 2nd or 3rd in almost every tourney. Beat up everyone, but one sob senior who just dominated me. Was beyond frustrating.
