Anyone else feel like AJ’s camp told him to try and say all the right things this weekend to try and change how people view him? I think he wants to clean up his act to try and get big NIL money from a big program. I still think he is a head case but he wants to be paid big.
I too am skeptical that he is a changed man but I don’t know him so maybe I’m wrong. I did think it was probably an act but it is also going to work. He is going to get paid a lot of money. Wouldn’t surprise me if it is Iowa.

Iowa will go
184 Ferrari
197 Ferrari
Next year. Take that to the bank. Especially after the pokes and neb finished with over 100 team points and multiple individual champions, leaving Iowa in the dust.

Probably so, but during one of his interviews he was using several examples of Iowa athletes that remained in on the team after doing things that he insinuated were worse or similar to what he did, but we all know the drive to win corrupts a lot of people.

This is a re tweet form Ferrari that says "where will he be next yr ?" at the end. That tells me he is leaving.

AJ Ferrari invites so much risk from crime, bad PR, corruption of other athletes, and a toxic locker room. Plus, it is going to cost a lot of NIL funds to land him. And all that for a guy who really is not going to score a ton of points at NCAAs. He got third this year and only scored 13.5 points. For perspective, Plott scored 15 and Wyatt scored 26.

It is going to reveal a lot about whatever coach is dumb enough to go after AJ. I am all for taking chances on a guy when the risk/reward ratio makes sense, but this one is not even close.

Only 13.5 pts is probably more than 95% of what the programs scored at 197. Plus it's going to be a lot more than what Iowa currently has in place for next year.

count me as a mark who buys it. To me he sounded like he's earnestly trying to change and be better. Not that he's all of a sudden blameless, but I think he's trying

Willie reporting that Lucas Byrd has one year of eligibility remaining and is looking to transfer from Illinois.
Not exactly. What he said on the podcast today was that three months ago he heard Byrd wanted to do a grad transfer after this year, but now that he's a champion that may not be true anymore. It might be more about the grad degree than anything

Who do y’all think are the biggest flight risks on the roster right now? No insider info whatsoever but I feel like Hughes could end up looking for a new home after whatever went on with his weight this season. Could see a guy like Robb, or maybe even Thompson, deciding the same.

I hope Hughes stats and fight for his spot. Robb is good enough for blood round right now for any team. BT is BT till he learns to finish shots. We don't know, BT might have improved.

Iowa State.
Sometimes not getting your portal wrestler is the story. I am thinking of Alirez where my memory indicated a bidding war, and he decided to stay at UNC. Paying big money for his performance would have been a bad deal. Of course, I know we would have developed him better, but his performance or lack of performance was stunning at Big 12 and Nationals.. We have talked about getting Norman, but his performance was not good at Nationals. Maybe we could get him cheap and get him to consistently wrestle to his potential? We talked of Trumble which I think would be good and allow Ross to redshirt. However, I remember Wyatt really putting a hurting on Trumble and he did not get off the mat for quite a while. Maybe he wouldn't want to work with Hendrickson or maybe he thinks right and thinks I need to train with that guy.

Maybe we could try to make it better than the other boards...
As an outsider who reads and posts on the Iowa and PSU board, I think this is the most respectful and classiest board out there. Everyone seems welcome and the hard core OSU fans do not insult fans from other sites or teams.

However, I also know more than all the coaches in all the sports. I just don't brag about it, although it is nice to be around others who are in the same boat of knowing more than the coaches. Maybe that is why I like this board so much. ;-)

Trumble doesn’t seem too happy. Wonder if we might see him in the portal.

It is awful sad to me that parents and wrestlers feel entitled to more money after a good performance. Enjoy the accomplishment, but don't go out and start screaming for more money. At least wait a few weeks and talk about things privately. Have some class!!

I do think he is trying. He has a lot of energy and seems impulsive by the way he says exactly what he is thinking. The fact that he raises his voice while making certain points leads me to believe that he doesn't really believe it, but is trying to incorporate it into his life.

I do not know what demons he is facing, but I do think he is genuinely trying to overcome them.

If I am a head coach, does that mean think it is worth the risk to have him on my team? I am not sure. I would need to have a long talk with his current coach, then depending on that conversation - I would have to decide if I was willing to try to sell it to my AD.

I like the potential of Norman. I think he will get better with better environment/staff. He took down KOT twice. Wrestled Dean really lose in CKLV. Trumble is 4th in NCAAs and all 3 in front of him graduate. He will be shoe in for top 3 next year, with Wyatt to train with, Trumble can win the whole thing.

Norman needs to go 184.

In terms of people wanting to train here… As we build up our RTC depth, we seem to have the lightweights covered with our coaching staff/RTC guys. We now have the reigning Hvwt champion, DT, Zahid and plott to help with the upper weights.

What do our middle weights look like from a coaching/RTC standpoint? Obviously we have Dean now. Who else would drive the middle weights to come?
