I figured I would start one up since the games start in 2 hours. Thought it would be good to have a thread outside of the game threads where all other games can be discussed.

I will repeat my sentiment from last year, I don't think automatic qualifiers should have to be in the play in games, but I doubt the NCAA will make a change.

Also looking forward to Duke taking it one game at a time.

Let's get this party started.

Free Shoes U is an interesting case. I think things line up well for them.

I don't have Kansas going that far. They have been disappointing in the tourney the last few years.

I would love if the cheaters didn't even make it to play UCLA or Kensucky. Butler is the type of disciplined team that could beat them like UVA. Hopefully, Jackson stays in his funk.

Also, I have Duke winning.

I agree that automatic bids should not have to play in the play-in games to get to the field of 64. Like I've seen others state in other threads I think that the last 8 at large bid teams to get into the tourney should play in the play-in games and I also think that all of the play-in games should be played for the 16 seed in each region not 2 of them being for 11 seeeds and 2 of them being for 16 seeds. To me if a team has to play in the play-in game to make the field of 64 them they shouldn't get a higher seed than teams that don't have to play in the play-in games to get into the field of 64.

I could see Miami beating Kansas if they get past Michigan State!

Sadly one of the best things to happen to this team was the injury of Amile Jefferson last year. Without his play I don't know where we would be.

That was creepy. That center acted like an abusive father to his teammate. Classy.

I have UNC beating Duke in my big money bracket. That way if the worst case scenario hits, I've hedged my emotions with my wallet. I'll still cry myself to sleep but at least I'll have Benjamin Franklin there to wipe my tears when I wake up.

I took UNC last year too and would've won my big bracket if they pulled it out. I've never been so happy to lose a few grand! Hopefully the jinx works again this year.
The only way that I would lose a few grand on UNC was if I was mugged in Chapel Hill and I loaded with cash. Just sayin'.

Saw that. The guy doing the choking, Thibodeaux, had a major melt down freak out at the end of their conference championship game too and is known for this type of behavior.

Looks like a good bracket Denver. I have same final four except Arizona
instead of FSU. I think Duke beats Kansas for its 6th. I just don't think Kansas will beat Duke a second time and with Duke being healthy.
I too believe a healthy Duke beats Kansas.

I look forward to an SEC choke, I would love for all to lose the first game but I see Kentucky at least to the 16, not sure which I would enjoy more, them losing to UCLA or seeing the Dad of the UCLA guard if he chokes against Kentucky

If Wichita State beats Dayton, I could see Wichita State giving UK a scare! Just have to get by Dayton first.

The Mount looks dangerous.

My dad is alum there, and my third son might well be attending in 2018. We caught a game in the Fall on campus. Their guard Robinson is lightning quick and while small, he can get to the rim at will. Clearly he had a tremendous game last night, and his teammates were knocking down threes, but I told my son last night, they play like that, and there is not a team in the tourney who wants to see them. They could give Nova fits.

Oh, and Go Duke!!

Ummm nope I don't see it. They played well last night and barely beat New Orleans. Villanova will beat them to a pulp imo.

I agree in principle. The problem with that is the last 8 teams in might be deemed are much better than some of the automatic bids. If Turd State wins the Nun's League championship, they should be matched up against a 1 seed. If you put the last 8 at large as a play in for 16, it is more fair for them (meaning, they are arguably the least deserving, so they have to play in), but less fair to the 1 seeds (they will probably get tougher opponents to open than the 2 seeds).
I think the last 8 teams should play each other - but not as a 16. Auto bids should never have to play in. Even if it's Turd State.

I agree with you mostly. No play in for the automatic qualifiers, but I don't have any issue with the play ins being for the 11 seed. Even the at large play in teams will be better than many automatic qualifiers. However, if that is the case, it should be for a specific seed every year.

Huggins press conference right now is fantastic. One of the reporters asked him if he had a relationship at all with Jay Wright. He responded that he's been around for 40 years and knows pretty much everyone. The funny part is he keeps making little jokes about how if he lost some weight he'd even be better looking than Jay Wright. He ran with that for another 6 or 7 questions. It was pretty funny.

Thanks, I'll look that up later. That's why I love colorful coaches like Huggy Bear.
