I just don't see where I am infringing on a guy's rights if I don't want him in the restroom with my wife and granddaughter.
The standard for rights is not whether you want him to or not. The issue is whether it's a right or not, not your personal feelings. Personal feelings have been behind almost every denial of rights this country has ever seen. What if you don't want a lesbian in the restroom with your granddaughter? Or if someone didn't want a Black woman in the restroom with their granddaughter? That would not matter even if you were one of 99 people who felt the same way and wanted to keep the 100th person out for nothing more substantial than personal feelings... if that last person had the right to be there. The only thing that matters is whether it's their right or not.

Ok, why should transgender people have the right to go into either restroom but a no one else does? You're the one trying to make this racist and discriminatory. What is so traumatic about using

The restroom that matches your gender? Look, you win... You're never going to see my side and I likely won't yours.

Where does our nation draw the line? I'm afraid before long the line will disappear because everyone feels it's their right to do anything they want. Hey Dattier, do you have the right to marry your pet if you want to? Just wondering is that where we are headed?

First of all its not my order but God's and I most of the laws in this country are based on the Bible. You want public places protected from folks like me that expect people to use restrooms that match their equipment? I'm surprised that you feel that way because that is the secular company line. I believe the freedoms that the Constitutiion provide... I just don't see where I am infringing on a guy's rights if I don't want him in the restroom with my wife and granddaughter. I think the guy is better off dealing with his own issue in the men's restroom. He can go into a stall and be assured that no one will bother him.
First, the laws are not "based on the bible".
Second, you think a biologically transgender person is there to see your wife? And Bruce Jenner is supposed to feel comfortable waltzing into a mens restroom at a Pilot Travel Center? Let go of all the hate and fear in your heart. I think you need to spend more time reading that Bible.

What we have now on this thread is a mix of sports (very little), politics, social issues and religion. It's not going well and it's costing some hard feelings. I don't know about the rest of you but I don't like this board, a board about Duke basketball which we all love going in this direction. I guess what I'm trying to say is could it be moved to The Lounge or just shut down. I'm not trying to tell the mods what to do I just don't care for confrontation especially here. I'm just one voice. With that said I will not add anything else to this thread. OFC

I must agree with you and I suppose much of it is my fault. I just cant believe the furor over the HB2 and Im really tired of being told to support overturning it. I really dont care about Jenner so I suggest we all get our trophies... go home and wait for CTC. Finally, something to agree on.

I used an example of racism in an analogy, the purpose of which was trying to help explain something. That's not trying to make anything racist.

Before I can answer your question, I need more confidence that you have the slightest clue what I just explained. You haven't really put forth any reason why transgenders shouldn't be allowed to use the restroom corresponding to their gender-identity other than your personal opinion. Without insisting they have that right, I stated that whether they have that right or not is not dependent on your personal feelings, and that if they do have that right, withholding it based on personal opinion is absolutely a textbook example of "discrimination."

Now, as for your question, they should have the right to go into one restroom, just like the rest of us. You and I apparently disagree about which bathroom that is, but no one is arguing for them to use both. Even if we were, what does that have to do with you? Is there a reason for you to use both? If so, fine. I'm set with one.

I do not have that right. I do not want that right. I get the impression you're trying to call me out and heckle me. I don't know why.

Where do we draw the line? I don't know, and if that place is not here, it's not actually relevant to this discussion where we draw the line.

Is this an important topic? Yes, but I guess the time has come. The football board and Lounge are being fixed so I guess it's time.
