Buy him more time is pretty laughable lol. Neal Brown is the only coach I've ever seen where at least half of the fans dont care if he wins 12 games, they still want him gone because of his douchebaggery. He's a coach who knows he would not have this job if it werent for a massive buyout that got an AD fired. It is a bit humiliating for him tbh. Its why every interview he has done this offseason he uses it to make more excuses and blame others on his failures.

But I do agree with the sentiment that Brown will end up starting Nicco and letting the only truly blue and gold loyal football player we've had in a long time ride the pine again. Brown doesnt like QBs who improvise. He has eluded to that at least twice, so if Nicco is willing to take every step the way Brown wants him to, he will start even if he is not better, because that is how Brown rolls.
