MAX Preps rankings do matter, the NCHSAA uses their rankings as part of the seeding process. I don't know about other conferences but the ECC has some key conference games remaining that has the potential to scramble not just the conference but this top 10 ranking up a bit. Not saying it will but it could.
I remember in 2006 following Clinton's 2005 state championship, Clinton started the regular season 3-5. They were off the charts as far as ratings go. (like #28, where they are now)I mean way off the charts even at season's end, but that 3-5 teams went on a 7 game winning streak, winning all of their playoff games
on the road with that record and they got to the state championship game. The lost the state championship game but they got there. I say this in that no matter what or how late the start,
ITS NEVER TOO LATE TO TURN IT AROUND. Good luck to all those teams that have the potential to turn it around!
