Dons look great. Sayles/Schurr are serious offensive weapons. Celtics can't keep up with their speed thus far.

Dons defense tightened up after an opening Provi TD drive. Keep it going!

Didn’t expect this either. Dons appear to be for real. If LA doesn’t relax their admissions standards, this Don Football thing could become a real fixture.

Amazing. Can’t wait to see this team. It was great to watch Gavin left right and up the middle the past few years, but this team is for real!!
This group has had a lot of success at the lower levels. That doesn’t always mean success at the varsity level but this team has posted 3 respectable road wins. They still have Montini, Naz and St Rita on the schedule with St Pats next Friday and Leo too. They should be playoff eligible and will definitely be battle tested come playoffs. If they can keep improving and stay healthy they will be a tough opponent for anyone in 8A.

I don’t know if this was made as a joke, and other than having a brother in law as alumni of both LA and ND, I don’t have strong feelings to either school. But are there Notre Dame football players that got denied from LA and admitted to ND?? Seems like an odd comment.

There aren't. Not sure what the poster was implying--LA is a great school, but it is not like they are rejecting kids who are then "stuck" going to ND. The admission standards at LA have nothing to do with Notre Dame's success in football.

I just found it to be a strange comment. I only have the pulse of St Juliana’s and IC in Edison Park. While LA might have slightly higher minimum score for admittance, I’m sure it HAS happened, but completely unaware of LA rejection and ND admitting. Also if a kid is a complete stud, there is no way LA, ND, Mt Carmel, Br Rice or any private school is letting them walk for low test score...

It was an off the cuff comment. A throw-away if you will. Nothing meant by it, just that there are a lot of ND family signs on the NW side these days in areas that Loyola also draws from. Wasn’t meant as an insult. Seriously just a joke.

And I was serious about ND being for real this year. Tonight proved that they are.

Naz appears to be the only game they might be in trouble. Pats is a rival, so you never know. Rita could give them fits for a while, but at worst, you’re looking 7-2, more likely 8-1, with 9-0 a possibility, depending on Naz. Definitely a challenge, but not insurmountable.

Thanks for responding. Glad it was just an ACADEMY prestige joke, and not a ND dig. Any kid is blessed to attend either school.

Wasn’t sure where that was coming from but glad you clarified it.

Montini, Naz and Rita still on the schedule for the Dons (in addition to Pats and Leo).
