--Brown said they weren’t good enough in any phase against Oklahoma and they got an up-close look at what it’s like to be a top team in this conference. On special teams the protection was poor in the punt game and they didn’t do well in the return game. They gave up a bunch of hidden yardage by not catching punts. The positives were Evan Staley has three touchbacks and coverage teams were good. They blocked well on kickoff return they just didn’t do a good job taking advantage. They were good defensively on third down but gave up too many explosive big plays. They didn’t make enough competitive plays on offense but the pass protection was solid.

--Josh Chandler will be out for about a month. It will depend on how things come from a rehab standpoint. He expects Keith Washington to return against Baylor but Quondarius Qualls is still up in the air and will depend on how he progresses.

--This week is about resetting and turning this into a five game season. The seniors have a good mindset on how they want to finish this year.

--Brown said they’re running out of bodies due to injuries on the defensive side. At linebacker and bandit, they have to make some decisions over the next 24 or 48 hours on who is going to be playing. Jared Bartlett could be a factor in this game.

--They haven’t been consistent in any phase over the course of an entire game which has been problematic. The red zone defense hasn’t been good, they haven’t gotten takeaways, offensively they can’t run the football and lack of explosive plays. Positives wise some of the foundational pieces that are critical to build a championship caliber team are being established and effort has been at a high level while it’s not always good it’s been what he wants to see in that department.

--The young players that are playing you’ve seen significant improvement from the first game to now.

--Pass protection has been very good this year but they’ve tried to recreate themselves in the run game and it’s been difficult there.

--Brown said that they are going to have to sign more defensive backs than they expected and they will pick and choose with junior college players as they planned. They will add some junior college players but they aren’t going to do a wholesale change.

--Cornerback Dreshun Miller is progressing and there will be an update on him Monday when it comes to his availability. He will meet with the doctors today.

--Austin Kendall is the starter he played well in the first half and did not play well in the second. He is the starter moving forward. The reason Jarret Doege traveled was because they don’t have a lot of guys healthy so it was important for him to be in that venue. They have aspirations that he can be a really good player for West Virginia but thought he might bring them some good luck. Whether they will play Doege is to be determined but they are going to take advantage of the rule and play players up to four games.

--Brown said he is optimistic that Sean Ryan will play this year and will start running next week. He won’t play against Baylor however.

--At Baylor they didn’t blink and he had a plan. Matt Rhule chose that Baylor situation so he went in there with a vision for what he wanted. They’ve developed players over time and now they have a lot of juniors and seniors on the roster that have played. He played a lot of freshmen in year one.

--Dante Stills is a work in progress and he’s had to be a guy for the first time. Brown looks at him as a redshirt freshman even though he’s not. He played better against Oklahoma but some of the things they did in the run game neutralized him. He is strongly encouraged by his demeanor and work ethic.

--When you punt 11 times it's an issue. There should be no game that happens. Punted it 10 and one time they faked it. They get a beat on what you're doing and right before the half they mis-ID'd it and they came close to blocking it. The block what happened was part of it was Brown's fault and part communication. If they could do it over they wouldn't have done it but they didn't communicate because Josh Chandler wasn't in there.
