Nice to see end of game situations going our way with our last 3 wins against Oklahoma, New Mexico, and K-Stank.
We have solid length with Mast, Berke, Sandfort, Frager, and Lawrence. Toss in the Hustling Hoiberg and this team can compete.
Maybe a top half finish in the B10 and an NCAA bid? Team has been a really nice surprise this year.
I was more critical of MBB than most over the last few seasons. But this year’s team may have potential. Last night’s offense was sharper and way more dynamic than anything I’ve ever seen from a NU Hoiberg team.
And the trapping D that leaves guys wide open hasn’t been exposed and abused like last year—yet. It’ll be interesting to see how that goes against much better competition.
We actually have guys who can shoot! It all starts with Mast. Sanfort, Lawrence and Frager are also great additions.
I still consider nos. 9 and 0 to be overall liabilities.
Sam’s game has some glaring weaknesses, but they are offset by his smarts and hustle. I’m starting to wonder if incessantly driving to the rim, getting swarmed and making desperation passes back out might actually be part of the plan. It sure happens over and over. Jacobson does what he’s supposed to … but not much else.
The OU and KSU wins should look good come March. If we can continue winning when we should, perhaps even a couple when we shouldn't, and avoid anything even close to last season’s stunning collapse down the stretch, I think our chances of making the tourney are fairly good. I’ve got a completely different feel about this team. Hopefully it’s not fool’s gold!!
