Could not afford to lose both of these conference home games, especially since NW and IU both had one of their best players out with injury.

I don't see us beating Iowa on the road. If we don't beat Rutgers or Minnesota next week, we may go 0-for-January.

Anybody know the record for most consecutive conference losses for a Nebrasketball coach? Miles is sitting on 11 right now.

I continue to wonder if this is what the "powers that be" expected at this stage - after the massive investment that was made in the basketball program.

I felt that NU would get 11-12 wins in conference this year and starting with two at home and as it turns out two teams with very good players out with injury...well...

I see 3 home wins. I'm not confident about any road gamea.

Did NU ever look at Bruce Weber before they hired Miles? He's done a nice job at KSU, and obviously would have been familiar with what it takes to win in the B1G.

And more good news. Iowa came back to best Purdue on the road, knocking off their 2nd ranked opponet in a week. Yikes.

Not many teams looked at him which was either weird or because he ended up taking the KSU job rather quickly...I don't remember the timeline.

He is a good coach though and the Illini fan base probably made a mistake in wanting him gone but they thought for sure they could get Brad Stevens or Shaka Smart.

Oh, goodness, no!!!!!

Why not?

I'm just curious whether NU looked at him. Looking back, it makes perfect sense now. At the time, I don't recall.
- maybe he was damaged goods? I know we were all sick and tired of Doc Sadler and anyone seemed like an improvement. Weber took over a team that finished at the bottom of the Big 12 and won (shared) a conference title at KSU his first year, went to 2 NCAA's in his first 3 years, and at this point would be considered a bubble team for a 3rd in 4 years.

I think Weber's a pretty good coach, but it's hard to hire someone that a school in your own conference just fired.

He didn't take over a team at the bottom of the Big 12. Like at Illinois is was living off someone else's recruits. As his tenure progresses K St will continue to get worse. Just like Illinois.

He is not a great recruiter but his teams usually play solid defense but will struggle to score. Still, he is a huge upgrade over Miles due to his resume but probably not "the answer" that most Husker fans would really be looking for.

You're right...I was looking at the wrong thing. KSU was middle of the pack when Frank Martin left and was replaced by Weber. Anyway, even if Weber was riding someone else's recruits, he actually improved upon his predecessor's results in his first few years both at Illinois and KSU. Illinois went to the post season in 7 of his first 8 years at Illinois, with 6 of those being the NCAA's, so he wasn't using Bill Self's recruits the entire time. It's a good point, though, about a reluctance to hire a guy that was just fired within your own conference - that is probably as good a reason as any.

I'd be interested to see what an NBA guy could do, Tyronn Lue would be intriguing, as he is a Cavs assistant and alum, Luke Walton from Golden State or Ime Udoka from the Spurs would also be guys I'd like to see at Nebraska. Throw em 3-4 million a year and see what one of them could do.

Bruce Weber pretty much is Doc Sadler, a nice guy who can't recruit and runs a boring style of play. Bill Self and Frank Martin left him a lot of talent. In fact, Frank Martin is the guy we should have hired. The guy knows how to recruit to places that are traditionally tough to recruit to - he has South Carolina undefeated right now.

Lue and Walton are going to be NBA head coaches next year and make much more than 3-4 million. They are not coming to Nebrasketball. That would be like Jon Gruden going to coach Iowa State football.

I love Martin! But man, if some fans hated Bo getting mad...Martin can really get after it too!
South Carolina made a great hire
