UNL up big on Rutgers at the half. Shon Morris being, as usual, entertaining

Are we better than the Huskers? Serious question

Who knows, this season just needs to end. But we have a great recruiting class coming in.......

We’ve played 12 games (most in BigTen) against AP ranked teams and are 2-10. Nebraska has played only 8 and is winless. We are better. That does not guarantee us a victory.

Nebraska is transfer U under Hoiberg. Practically the whole team is jaycees. I think that was part of his winning formula at Iowa State. Doubt many could qualify academically to play at NU. That said, they are getting better and they have a five star Frosh coming in next year.

The funny thing about Nebraska destroying Rutgers last night (it was even more of a blowout than the score suggests) is that it was their first game without Teddy Allen, their leading scorer. After their win on Saturday against Minnesota, he abruptly left the team even though he is still enrolled at the school. So of course they go out and play their best game of the year their first game without him.

They play at Iowa on Thursday as they are cramming a lot of games in here late due to how many they had cancelled earlier this year. Will be an interesting game when we play them Sunday afternoon. Hard to know what to expect, but there is no doubt that Nebraska is much better now than they were earlier this year. Even in their recent losses, they've been playing much better.

UNL will be fine. Even if Hoiberg has always received a lot more hype than he deserves, he can recruit, as shown by his years in Aimes.

I say we are better than them if we beat them Sunday. If not, we are the worst team in the conference.

PS-If we had that many games crammed in so little time, we would have plenty of supporters using it to justify losing 50 in a row

PPS-Really enjoyed listening to SM on color

Damn ... not Dutcher!! That's the guy I have in the back of my mind.
Wow... the guy has a special University of Minnesota buyout clause in his contract. Seems like that is the obvious choice for them. I watched his dad coach when I was little growing up in Minnesota. I'm pretty sure he coached Kevin McHale on those teams.

The most surprising thing I read in that article is that Thad Matta is only 53 years old.

Pitino: 140-120 (.538), 54-94 (.365) B1G. 2 NCAA appearances (1-2 record), 1 NIT appearance (5-0 record). 4, possibly 5 winning seasons. 8th season overall. Being run out of town on a rail.

Collins: 116-133 (.466), 47-100 (.320) B1G. 1 NCAA appearance (1-1 record), 0 NIT appearances. 2 winning seasons. 8th season overall. Just needs another 3-4 years to really get this thing going.

Guess NU should just hire Pitino then. He'd be an upgrade.

Minnesota: Way better history, way different academic standards (Remember the 1997 Final Four team that got their banner taken away). My folks went to U of M and it is a good school but academic requirements of athletes aren't comparable to what Collins has to deal with. Same as Freddy Hoiberg at Nebraska.

If Gopher fans were NU fans:
  • But the B1G is so strong
  • But we played 3 games in 10 days
  • But Robbins and Kalscheur got hurt
  • But the Barn was empty
  • But our alpha dude was not alpha at all away from Minneapolis
  • But we have two 6'11 guys coming in
  • But we are so close to breaking through
  • But Oturu went pro
  • But he won the NIT, he made the tournament twice, he did not forget how to coach
  • But our arena is old
  • But it's cold in Minneapolis
  • But only Tubby Smith did better this century
  • But girls on campus have only blue eyes, no exotic ladies

Wow!! Really?!?!? That blows my mind also.

He'd be at the top of my list ... well, pending a physical. The next guy also needs to be on his bench.

I only saw Nebraska for a few minutes during a losing effort. They are far more athletic than NU
