I have a sprinkler system that has a controller with no battery backup. I have been getting power flashes constantly here lately. Since there is not battery backup on my sprinkler controller the controller goes in to a reset mode and does not remember any time or programming. If I purchased a new controller myself could I install it myself or is this something that needs to be done by the company that installed the system?

You can do it yourself, just make sure to mark the zones so you get them back in the same order

I have this particular model. No battery backup needed. It has permanent memory.

I've had others that sucked to program. This one is a piece of cake.

Your wires coming from your valves into the old controller should be color coded. If red goes into zone 1 on the old controller, put red in zone one on the new controller and so on. There is a common ground. Should take no time to do.

The link is to amazon, but these are available just about anywhere sprinkler stuff is sold.

depends on how many zones you have, but mine has little pieces of white tape with each zone written on them. I've got 25 zones. It's a simple job to do.

25 zones? Come on meow
sorry---24. one of them not working for some reason. Installed in phases but I water a lot of grass....and typically it's not enough water except for the last couple of years. I run 12 zones a night 30 minutes each.

I have a Hydrawise. Control it from my iPhone. It also monitors the weather via wifi by using the local airport (Tulsa) forecast. Has a rain sensor as well, so all those doo dads make it completely run on its own/idiot proof.

But, I won't have it after October since we are moving and we just sold our current house as well.

I just had mine redone and got the WIFI version. It is nice being able to control it with your phone.
