I play in cover bands and I know literally nothing about country music, especially newer country (I've always been a rock guy).

Having said that, we've been covering Blake Shelton's "Kiss My Country Azz"... and people LOVE IT (and we're getting ready to cover Creed Fisher's "If You Got the Right to Burn My Flag").

So... can I get some more recommendations of "Angry Country" songs? Preferably well known, and newer...

Thanks!

Edit: we have both male and female vocalists... so angry females welcome as well!

The majority of those songs are older songs which just goes to show how music has changed. Now Country music is about dirt roads, parties and such instead of drinking, fighting and cheating.

Not newer but Simple Man and There’s some things in this world you can’t explain both by Charlie Daniels.

Sturgill Simpson - You Can Have the Crown (not necessarily angry, more funny).
Carrrie Underwood - Before He Cheats

I Hope He Breaks Your Heart -American Aquarium

There’s a great video on YouTube of BJ Barham slurring his way thru that one in some dingy *** dive bar well before he went sober. Really captures the essence perfectly.

Lot of good suggestions... I'll throw out Kolby Cooper - "It Ain't Me" as a newer go-to-hell kinda song.

Goodbye Earl (Earl had to Die) - Dixie Chicks (probably the most violent song in country)
Sweet Revenge - John Prine (Used a little Hunter Thompson in it)
Thunder Rolls - Garth Brooks
Red Headed Stranger - Willie Nelson
She Wore Red Dresses - Dwight Yoakum

The DC song was a pretty damn popular song. Read the lyrics and meaning. They where speaking out about domestic violence, the girl had to wear shades because of black eyes. Guarantee you more people will know that song over Kerosene. meh, they said something about GWB, be like today saying "I will not be watching any LA Lakers game, Lebron is a no go.

You're certainly entitled to your opinion... and I'm entitled to not care. Cheers!

You could always do some angry rock songs in a country/rockabilly style.

Check out the band Social Distortion and Mike Ness. He did an album of country covers called “Under The Influences”

The best angry country songs are always about broads who had guys cheat on them.

The Thunder Rolls
Before he Cheats
etc.

ETA toss in one of the all time great angry pop songs "You Oughtta Know." You'd need to grab a pissed off female lead singer though.
