Really killing us. With our size all over the court why not use a full court trapping press to get some turnovers and easy baskets? Since our half court D and defensive rebounding is over all bad.
We lack the athleticism required for a full-court trapping press, making it easy to break. Additionally, with our short rotation, such a strategy would drain our energy, significantly impacting our offense.

When your players lack athleticism, it's very difficult to play effective defense.

We should consider playing zone defense, because aside from Florida, Alabama, and Auburn, most other teams don’t have strong perimeter shooting.

Hopefully he doesn’t need surgery and the PT has worked to get his shoulder better. If he isn’t able to play, we are DON for as far as winning in March.
That’s just what I saw a person on the other board say, I have no info, they just said that he may be back Saturday. As for his injury, the longer he sits out the more the possibility of completely sputtering out of control comes into play. They need 5 more wins to become a virtual lock for the tourney, and without butler idk how they do it.

Somebody start pumping Perry full of HGH and steroids and meth. LFG!!!!! Season isn’t over until it’s over.

Seriously though what a **** way to end a season that’s been a lot of fun if Butler is done. Nothings over until it’s over but being down PG 1&2 and PF 1 on a team with little to no margin to work with is a damn shame.

College basketball moves to 15 scholarships next year.

I think Pope should use at least 14 of them.

Problem is there is no player who is good enough to play at this level who will come here and sit, waiting for a injury so he can play.
We could over come Carr's injury, but krissa and butler is something this team will not overcome IMO.
I agree with both of these.

I don't want us hoarding scholarships like PTO we can sell for $$ at the end of the year.

I also agree guys that are good enough to play aren't coming here to be our 3rd PG.

Kriisa--for as erratic as he is--is probably one of the best backup PG's in the nation. We'd be a lot better off right now if we at least had him.

Seriously.

We were in the middle of a magical season. Then Carr's back started bothering him. During the Alabama game, he was having a hard time staying on the floor.

We saw Butler make some uncharacteristic mistakes vs Bama and Vandy. Then it comes out he's got a shoulder problem that's been affecting him. And now he's out.

I assume at some point, Carr is 100%. But we HAVE to have a PG. If Kriisa can come back, we're a lot better off than we currently are. Obviously getting Butler back is preferred and both is ideal. But Kerr would be a huge boost.

But seriously, how much of a contributor is/can the guy coming in penciled-in at the #11-14 spots honestly going to be?
Not very much at a place like UK. I suppose NIL has a chance to improve that, but still guys want to play. And if he's good enough to help in the way you want, then he's good enough to both get NIL somewhere else while playing guaranteed significant minutes.

Really is the challenge of the NIL era. Hard to have quality depth. Maybe contracts with a guaranteed yearly increase would help but it’s going to be an obstacle for everyone.

Butler may require surgery if the intense PT they're trying doesn't work.

With 15 scholarships, you can afford to take guys like Perry and Noah who really want to be at UK. They can practice and develop and be counted on to contribute as upperclassmen. It worked back in the day for players like Cameron Mills, Nazi, Jeff Sheppard.

You also thought he would be back for Arkansas. When/if he comes back he’s going to be limited and he looked bad before they sat him.
Then like 20 mins after I said no I don’t anymore. Somebody on the other board said he is gonan be back by Saturday

I wasn't able to watch the game Saturday vs Arky. Is Perry completely over his head playing point for the rest of the season? I think I know but what do you guys think?

I wouldn’t say completely. He’s fundamentally sound and that helps a lot.

I agree about having quality depth. But it can only go so far, 9-10-11 spots at most. After that (for 12-13-14) you are taking guys who at best are fighting for a 8-9-10-11 spot on a lesser team.

The butler situation sounds like he needs surgery, so they’re basically wrestling with if he should play or not. He definitely won’t be 100% again for the rest of the year. I’d just assume Krisa is done.

Yeah but those last 4 kids won’t be the quality of player that we would need. We don’t have a problem with our numbers right now. We have a talent drop off problem after the first unit.

I feel like this would be a problem with any team.

Only so many good players to go around. You might be able to get by without one key guy..........heck we were without 3 and got by at UT. But eventually it's going to catch up to all teams. Can't keep losing key pieces to this team. Especially when you've had issues on defense all season long and then you lose some key guys on defense.

It's just a bit unfortunate because your left to wonder at 15-6 just what the record would have been had guys like Butler and Kerr not been hurt.
