Just my opinion after listening to the 2nd round broadcast. Take it for what it's worth.
BC has lots of speed and quickness, and some good size on the line. However, if you can contain the speed, they don't have a lot of other weapons to hurt you with. They are pretty one-dimensional. No kicking game, and pass defense especially (but a big part of run defense too) consists of concerted attempts to strip the ball after the fact rather than solid fundamental defense up front. If the lineman who was constantly moving early (according to the Swain announcers, one of whom has 30 years of coaching experience) gets called anywhere near as often as he should have been, the BC offense will have considerable trouble getting anywhere.
Takeaways from the Swain game: hold on to the ball, and contain the speed, and Bessemer City won't give you much trouble. Kudos to them, they beat a better team this week... that's why they play the games, after all. But I don't think Mount Airy has much to worry about if they just take care of business and get the fundamentals right. Swain wasn't strong enough this year to overcome their early miscues and the speed disadvantage. Don't think Mt. Airy is in the same situation, this year anyway.
