No, I wasn't bragging about cutting the cable, still on the cable. However, people are cutting the cable because of competition and innovation. Because companies like Comcast, Time Warner, etc. have made the Cable TV pricing so outrageous to some that cutting the cable is a great cost effective alternative. The same could eventually happen with internet access. The big companies like Comcast screw with consumers too much, consumers will look for other options.

Net neutrality actually stifles competition and free enterprise, and again, the FCC should not be regulating the Internet. Want "net neutrality", go to Congress... pass a law.

I remember the old days. It still pains me to think of those horrible times. The year was 2015, the world was war torn, poverty stricken and we were not lucky enough to have net neutrality. Times were tough. My ISP charged me $1 Million a day to access pornhub.com and an additional $2 Million for every second of video I downloaded.

Luckily, I saved millions by having a quick trigger. Others weren't so fortunate. Hundreds of thousands of people perished during this time. It was truly one of the darkest times in American history. Fortunately for us all, our Lord and Savior Barack Obama saved the world by giving us Net Neutrality. Our lives quickly became much easier. It allowed me to have equal opportunity porn viewing time. Black midget tranny porn was so much more enjoyable now that it was free and unhindered by my evil ISP.

All seemed to be going great, we were living in a utopia that not even a Cal Berkeley feminist could dream up. Life was awesome...until...

Brexit happened and then the election of Donald Trump. Before you knew it Melania was wearing high heels, decorating trees at the white house, and we were saying Merry Christmas again. Finally, the repeal of Net Neutrality started to destroy us all.

We are now once again living in hell and people are dying! Carl from the Walking Dead got bit by a walker. **** is hitting the fan. We're all gonna die!

You don't have a clue about what cable companies can charge for internet service. The majority of them can charge whatever they want. You must live somewhere in the backwoods trying to compare electric utility companies with the many innovation options available. I cut the cord and have been very happy with the quality which is much better and pricing of what I now have. Funny how clueless you are about how things work...I get a call about once a week from Comcast offering me all kinds of special deals. I still use them for internet and they even gave me a better deal on that. I'm glad i'm saving a few bucks.....but it's was never about the money as I have more than I will ever need....it was about how they treated people whom they thought they had by the balls.

In all fairness, the net neutrality provisions were put into place to prevent the process that was occurring already. I’m not sure anyone really knows where it was heading.

If you have more money than you will ever need how about sending some of the extra my way?

As far as the cable company goes, you can get rid of cable TV and still have options (and more and more as time passes). That forces the cable companies to compete somewhat on that front. But in terms of your internet connection you have few if any other options than our cable/internet provider. The internet monopoly or quasi-monopoly that some companies have is what concerns me.

So the people providing the content should pay and the people receiving the content should pay? Doesn't that seem to be an extra sweet deal for the internet provider? If there was a bunch of internet providers in any given area that had to compete for the business of the content providers and the content consumers then it might not be so bad but that's not the case.

You pay what you pay for Netflix right now (pretend you have it). So Netflix should pay your internet provider and then turn around and charge you more? That is in effect you paying your internet provider more, isn't it? If I had a viable option to ditch my internet provider for another provider then that wouldn't be so bad but for me and many others that's not the case.

I hate to tell the person that wrote this article that companies like Comcast ALREADY LIMIT access to content on the internet.

Who loses?
Normal internet users like you and me would lose out with the repeal of the net-neutrality rules. It won't happen overnight, but you can expect broadband providers to start limiting what you can access on the internet or charging you more to get to the sites and services you regularly use.

I have two pretty good options and I live out of town. I can see my options getting better with new tech.

Agree totally.....lack of internet providers also concern me. I don't see how having or not having net neutrality affects that fact. A lot of the blame for lack of providers lays at the feet of local government.

Isnt that how cable tv works? I pay for cable and the network pays to be on the cable platform. The internet provider is oaying for access to their infrastructure.

I don't know of any other viable options I have. I get things in the mail now and then from companies trying to get me to switch over from Spectrum/TWC but their fastest speeds are always way slower than I need and my needs aren't extraordinary. The only people I see them serving at this point are people with so little money that having a real slow internet is acceptable if it will save $20 per month.

Yeah that's how it worked and it was famous for providing terrible service until recently when people started having more options and thus could get video entertainment without cable TV. The problem though is that a lot of that comes in the form of the Internet and those same companies have a stranglehold on providing Internet to people.

And what if the Internet provider just jacks and jacks up what they charge Netflix and what they charge consumers for Internet access and people have no choice but to pay it or else have no Internet? Do you have no problem with that too?

Oh I got problems with it, not any that have anything to do with anything other than my budget.

The biggest non-selfish problem I have with this trend, is that for as much bad as there is on dat der interwebs....there’s a massive amount of good. The internet helps business start ups, parents diagnosing a runny nose, me making it look like I know something on a discussion board, kids doing homework or finding out how to work their wee wee works whatever....slapping price tags on everything doesn’t always guarantee a positive outcome either (look at the NFL).

No Internet? There's not just one provider. And if they do, there will be others.

I dont know what the actual numbers are but at&t keeps telling me they can give me a hub for wifi that will work over my wireless data and give me a pretty good mb/s compared to cable. Not as high but plenty high to stream the house. I havent pursued it but if it is what they claim it is competitve and should be available to anyone with a dtata signal.
