Anybody watched or watching this? Pretty good. I'm 5 episodes in. Documentary about murders in Ada,OK in the early 80's.
Pretty good.
Tried and true format for presentation.
And I'm not too far into this but just because the murder weapon was a gun not a knife , and the body was dumped elsewhere doesn't mean they didn't really kill her . Correct ?
Still mystifies me why people confess to a murder , when there is no evidence they did it .
Happens all the time, bc it's part of how law enforcement are trained...they use techniques to get a confession not the truth. They just want a conviction. When you break people down for hours you can get what you want. If you look at a lot of false confessions they dont confess, many times their adamant, but its not until several hours and attempts getting them to reword theyll get what they want.Still mystifies me why people confess to a murder , when there is no evidence they did it .
Most people are not strong enough pr smart enough to deal with police pressure. Hours under interrogation is tough. They also dont know their rights so they never exercise them.
Most people dont know their rights. Police pray on the weak and ignorant. It is a way the poor are oppressed in our country. They are generally less educated, they dont have intelligent people in their friends and family groups. They get pegged and they fight the police or say too much. Either way you're getting punished. All they have to do is stay silent. Most powerful right a person accused of a crime has to use. And the one that is most frequently ignored.

Yep. EVERYBODY, and I mean E-V-E-R-Y-B-O-D-Y, should get this book ...Police hold people for hours on "voluntary interviews". Eventually people start to break down and the "just tell us you did it so we can all go home" starts sounding like the best way out....No telling how many innocent people convicted because of them
However, if you can't do those things, here's the take home:
The only four words you should ever say to the police if they 'just wanna talk' -- no matter what the circumstances -- is, "I want a lawyer." Period.
