Good game so far.

Love the moxie of the little WV QB.

Neuqua D pretty good.

Neither team can run it much.

Big brawl on the NV sideline right before half. A WV player got chippy with the NV bench and it erupted.

After they hit the little QB out of bounds for a personal foul penalty. That's what erupted the fight.

Refs did a good job waiting 10 minutes to sort it out to calm people down. Tempers flaring and it's getting very chippy out there. Cheap shot on the QB out of bounds on NV sideline is always going to draw the other 10 over there.

Also bush league move for the NV bench players to jump and clap for it and getting their student section to join in. for the unsportsmanlike hit out of bounds.

You saw it differently than I did. They didn't hit the QB. The kid that followed is the one who got chippy. The first flag was on the WV kid then NV got the retaliation offsetting call.

I'll watch it again on the NCTV replay on Sunday nite. I thought the first yellow flag came out way before any WV guys got over to the sidelines which would indicate the first flag was for the hit on the QB out of bounds. Then yes more yellow followed.

#88 on WV started it on Isaiah. IR retaliated.

That was a fun game to watch. The second half was back and forth.

Dub V took the opening kickoff down to the NV 17 and immediately scored. NV came right back and went up 21-14 on the next possession.

I felt the big turning point was the fact that Neuqua ran the ball and Dub V couldn't muster a whole lot on the ground. Hard hitting, exciting game. I was really impressed with the Neuqua D. The DL got plenty of disruptive pressure on the WV run game and QB.

Yeah it was a fun game to watch. WV too many turnovers and penalties though. It wasn't the NV Dline - it was their LBs doing most of the disruptions. WV Dline also did not play well and were handled by NV Oline. Bottom line it looked like NV wanted it more. More energy, more big plays, more of a running attack and got more turnovers.

Both good teams though. Hopefully both make the playoffs. They will both be tough outs.

Look at Lake Park - they just beat the #6 team in 6A for their non conference game.

Could their be 5 teams from the DVC in the playoffs this year?

The LBs were beasts but the DL allowed that. I was surprised that DubV couldn't run after what they did to GBN last week. Granted, I didn't see that one but I assume they ran it on them.

Both teams will be in the playoffs. The DVC from top to bottom is sick. Who would have ever thought that WWS would be one of the easy outs in the league?

#35 a good one on NV Dline (he didn't make many plays...but you could tell WV was eyeing him and double teamed him a few times and chipped him a little). From my view - Not much else of note on the DL in that 3-3-5 defense of NV's. What I thought stopped most of the WV runs was excellent back side LB play - scraping down and making the tackle from the back side for gains of 1,2 maybe 3 yards. Their outside LB s were very quick and good pinching down from the backside.

I was at the GBN game - they had 7 sometimes 8 in the box after WVs first drive that turned over on downs inside GBN 15. Their back 4 were great at run support and did similar excellent back side tackling and pinching down from the outside in. They did man coverage to support their run stopping efforts and most of WVs big plays were passes and screens that caught GBN in bad spots. Plus GBN got tired in the 4th quarter. Their starters hadent played a full game yet as they blew out NC and were pulled at the end of the 3rd quarter in that game.

Yeah - it is almost too tough week in and week out in the DVC. its a shame that there will be teams from the DVC that miss the playoffs. Those "bottom" teams in the DVC (whoever they may be - would be 6-3 or 7-2 in most conferences. I would even go out on a limb and say 7 of 9 DVC teams would be conference champion of the upstate 8 valley division. Ohh to move back to that conference!! play 2 or 3 tough non con games to prepare for playoffs and rest starters for at least 3 conference games.

Right now I believe the DVC does have a good shot at 5 teams in the playoffs, should be:
(in no particular order)

Neuqua Valley
Waubonsie Valley
Glenbard North
Naperville North
and the winner of the Lake Park/Wheaton North game in Week 5.
Naperville Central is young and may come along but that 0-2 start and tough road game to Ohio will most likely be too much to overcome.

MV & WWS, sorry, no chance...

Rhattigan (9) and Ippolito (7) were all over the field. Ciesla (35) is indeed a beast. The main concern for me going forward is the play of the secondary. A good passing team will give Neuqua fits, especially if Robertson doesn't become more of an instinctual player at safety.

Good insight, Voodoo. I appreciate it.

Watch out for the GBN QB when you guys play them. He can throw and has some studly receivers. They didn't hurt WV too bad because WV couldn't stop Tricase their fantastic RB. They fed him the ball all game (over 30 carries) and he had nearly 250 yards rushing and all 4 of their TDs. It was painful sitting in the stands watching WV get run over by him - but the pain went away like nova cane to a tooth ache when the magic happened in the 4th quarter for WV.

WV needs to regroup and work out the issues on the running game and stopping the run. Then forget about the past and focus on the next game!!

Yes I saw it this morning as well

Yup you were right no hit on the QB out of bounds (I didn't have my binoculars with me at this game and it was on the far sideline from WV stands) I saw it as well on film a little while ago.

You should play the entire tape. It looked like 88 slipped/tripped and bumped into #1 (ISsiah). Of course that could be debated. Then IR shoves 88 and 5 NV bench guys jumped on top of 88 and some started throwing punches. #2 (Piche?) jumps on top of the pile to throw punches at 88 from the top of the pile. Very ugly. NV coaches grabbing WV players to stop them from coming in to rescue 88 (end zone angle)

Someone needs to take a very close look at this film from both the end zone and sideline shots. I don't like the fact that opposing coaches (men) are physically handling opposing teams players. If an opposing coach is grabbing or hitting another teams player wouldn't that player have the right to do what they need to do to get that person off them? And probably get in trouble for it post review?

Again someone needs to take a very close look at this from all angles available. Very ugly and not good for both teams. Very disappointed in both teams

I just got an idea.....If no one from D204 bothers to review the end zone shot, the Sideline shot, and the NCTV camera shots - then.....Pack up all the tape, send to Goodell in NY, have his crack team of reviewers review with the rest of the weeks NFL tape on Monday ...and issue fines (money for the pros and sprints and up downs for the HS kids););)
