Rivalry game on a soaked grass field. These War of 204 games are always sledgehammer games.Pretty respectable score considering how loaded Neuqua is. Should be a heavy favorite to win the DVC.
Buck, I think things change from week to week..I was at the ESL @ NV game...yep...the 'Cats hung with the Flyers...but then they come back the following week and barely beat DeKalb....who barely beat Metea today..The game tonight was out of control on both sides.I've never seen so much chaos...That 4th quarter literally took 40 minutes to play with all the flags..but...it's a serious rivalry.. I think the pasting that WV got in Louisville KY a few weeks back did them more harm than good. They should've beaten Naperville North last week. For all intent purposes, the DVC title will be on the line next Friday night when the Naperville Central Redhawks square off against the Wildcats on the Southside..Rivalry game on a soaked grass field. Edgy doesn’t think they are loaded. He has them 19th.
Neuqua played East Side way better than Batavia. Yet Batavia, who struggled with a GBN team that Neuqua throttled at GBN, is 6 and NV is 19. Don’t quite understand that.
How's he unknown???? Please enlighten us...one of what 2=3 QB's verbally committed to a D1 school in state...if that many?Gronowski is a beast. Best unknown QB in the Chicagoland area.
True. You and I know he’s pretty good. Most outside the DVC/western burbs prolly never heard of him. How's he unknown???? Please enlighten us...one of what 2=3 QB's verbally committed to a D1 school in state...if that many?
Should be a good one...Happy 21st to your Son! I've been watching Neuqua football since it's inception back in '96 when they played the first ever game as just Freshmen against Bartlett another new school and won. The QB was Mike Askren whose Dad Doug was my insurance agent. The first few seasons going forward were tough ones especially in '98 when the Wildcats went 0-8 (they actually had won 3 games but had to forfeit them, I believe, due to having an alleged player who was over 18 years old?...I've still never figured that one out...and they lost the last game of the season to East Aurora of all schools..But things got better and in 1999 the Wildcats and Warriors hooked up for the first ever time and won 14-6 and there have been a bunch of memorable games including the 63-21 pasting by NV in '04. Gronowski has a lot of poise and runs the offense well. Broc Rutter however is the best QB in NV history having thrown for over 4,000 yards in two seasons, and the team excelled at that time under Coach Ellinghaus first time at the helm going 22-3, but no state titles. I guess things take time Buck..Stevenson for years was looked at as the program that had all the tools...facilities....players...good support but couldn't get over the hump...until '14 when they went 14-0 and took home the 8A title...You know, the area is so darn competitive with 203 and 204 schools, and the Oswego schools to the west are big now and competitive. I hope this district stuff doesn't go through and the DVC can stay intact. I'd love to see the Oswego schools join....Agree to a certain extent.
My older son turns 21 Friday so we are going out for a night in the city. Pains me to miss the Neuqua/Central game, finally, on 95th St.
What a meatgrinder of a schedule for the Redhawks. Can't see how anybody could have a more difficult one. Naper Central will have to beat Neuqua to make the playoffs with ESL looming in week 9. What a shame.Buck, I think things change from week to week..I was at the ESL @ NV game...yep...the 'Cats hung with the Flyers...but then they come back the following week and barely beat DeKalb....who barely beat Metea today..The game tonight was out of control on both sides.I've never seen so much chaos...That 4th quarter literally took 40 minutes to play with all the flags..but...it's a serious rivalry.. Even if they do, they have to be very careful with Waubonsie as well...the Redhawks have had difficulties with the Warriors in recent seasons..Central opted not to go with a schedule that would've had them playing a DVC team twice this season thus having to face East St Louis in week 9...Next season the Redhawks will go there and have the same schedule as this season except sites reversed...will host Hinsdale, Pickerington OH, Neuqua and Waubonsie....Away to LW East, Metea, DeKalb and ESL...will be the designated away team vs Huskies @ NCC...What a meatgrinder of a schedule for the Redhawks. Great post. I’ve been watching them all along as well. The 2012 Joey Rhattigan/Mikey Dudek led team was the best chance at a title. That last minute game winning drive by the Caravan was a work of art.Should be a good one...Happy 21st to your Son! You know...that would've been a great 2012 final had NV beaten MC played Glenbard North who after losing in week 1 to Batavia went undefeated all the way to the finals before losing to the Caravan. I remember the 20T win by the Wildcats over Waubonsi that season...Both came into the game at 6-0. After overtime touchdowns by Waubonsie's Guido and Warden and Neuqua's Rhattigan and Mike Dudek, NV's Ryan Mulhern kicked the decisive extra point in the second overtime and Waubonsie opted to go for the 2-point conversion run and failed. That had to have everyone's stomachs churning! And of course the QF rematch won by Neuqua with Mulhern kicking the winning FG with seconds remaining. Didn't he have mono, and was questionable? Rhattigan had nearly 300 yards rushing...Great post. I’ve been watching them all along as well. The 2012 Joey Rhattigan/Mikey Dudek led team was the best chance at a title. Rutter is easily the best and now he owns pretty much every record at NCC. Good kid too.
Both of those WV games were Incredible. That Semi against the Caravan was pure awesome football. But that Bolingbrook playoff game (Aaron Bailey v Rhattigan/Dudek) was the best game I had seen until the NV/ East Side game earlier this year. That game might have been better considering the spoils. You know...that would've been a great 2012 final had NV beaten MC played Glenbard North who after losing in week 1 to Batavia went undefeated all the way to the finals before losing to the Caravan. Why would they? They own their conference and have all of their local rivals. It would be a great move for the DVC but it would never happen.Oswego isn’t going to the DVC
Not much defense in either of those games plus Bailey was still limping. I hated seeing Rhattigan basically rhino through our D for about a million yards. Our D that year was a sophomore D with Tuf as a freshman. They turned it around the next season, but the offense was Jr. Peewee. Both of those WV games were Incredible.
