Any of you guys know of anyone that has had this done? I have a loved one that is going to start the trial for this is a couple weeks. We have watched the video, and talked to the Doctors, I'm just looking for as many real experiences as possible.

@JasonSpear any of your patients or anyone you know?

Any input would be appreciated. TIA

don't typically see many patients that already have neurotransmitters because they've likely already tired therapy before and it failed, otherwise they wouldn't have needed the transmitter. However my dad's neighbor (his cousin) had chronic low back pain for years and was barely functional for a while and had a transmitter implanted and you wouldn't know he's really at any sort of disability now other than he still walks with a cane sometimes. Dude has built onto his house, put up a pool in the back yard and built a deck around it, done a tone of landscaping. Pretty impressive. He's probably 60 or so.

Thanks, Jason. Yeah I know you guys see the patients first and the transmitter is the last resort. Just wasn't sure if you had seen any patients that had it done and maybe talked to you afterwards about the success or failure of the device. The story you gave is exactly the stuff I am looking for. I appreciate your input.

Who is the manufacturer of the device? Lots of discussions on spine-health.com regarding this subject

What's the indication? Is it for Parkinson's, chronic pain, something else?

All muscles that attach to the shoulder were torn completely from the bone. Three of the five were re-attached by drilling holes in the shoulder blade and weaving the muscle. Two were unrepairable. Nerves had to be cut in the process. This is chronic pain. Injections worked to begin with but the relief lasted less time with each one, and the steroids were having a negative affect on her body/bone density.

I personally haven't seen it in individuals with orthopedic pain, but I'm sure there's solid pilot study data (or better) if they're putting one in your family member. Ive seen plenty of people with implants for chronic abdominal pain, though, and it seems to be somewhat of a magic bullet and has helped essentially all of them transition off of narcotics. I think they do it for spinal pain, as well, but we don't see that quite as often.

The only narcotics she took where during and post op for about a month. I've read about several cases where the stimulator had relieved chronic pain in people's extremities due to injury or surgeries. My concern is those cases were all in the lumbar region. Her implant will be in the cervical region, which from what I've gathered is rare...then again so was her surgery and the extent of the injury. I'm nervous, hopeful and a bit scared. We've been through a lot the past three years and I'm tired of seeing her in pain and want her to have some quality of life back. This is pretty much the last hope. It's been hard and scary at times.

Sorry for rambling
