That Greg Schiano will get it done here.

He's on a mission and has a plan.

It's all coming together.

Excited for this season and the future of Rutgers Football.

Go RU!
What is your definition of the bold?

As I have mentioned previously on here numerous times, my measuring stick for a successful version of 2.0 is an appearance (a real one not like the other) in a traditional NYD Six game. With hopefully a victory or a win in the next one the following season.

Convenient timing, given the story released this morning (Brian Fonseca) related to the preseason predictions for the B1G.

I'm not a betting man, but I'm willing to bet the OP that the number of wins this year is 5 or less.
I'll go further. I'm willing to bet the wins will mostly be close victories and the Loss column will have quite a few bad losses with no close losses to really great programs, or maybe--maybe--one.

I don’t even want to know when (or if) we’ll ever beat Sandusky or O$U.

I want to know how long it will be til we’ll score a TD in a road game at PSU or be within four TDs of the Buckeyes anywhere.

We’ve played four games at State Penn since joining the league and we’ve managed a grand total of 5 field goals. How can that not infuriate an RU fan?

We play two or three games each year where the other team has a better or comparable player at every position but for punter. If Knute Rockne and Nick Saban were on our sideline, they couldn’t win those games either.

We really have some miserable fans. Geno Auriemma was right. My god.
Lol and what, exactly, do Rutgers fans have to be happy about? 4 win seasons? No Big Ten wins except Indiana? 3 point wins over teams like Temple? Mind-numbingly boring and rock-bottom bad offense? Our bright spots are literally kickers. We don't even get exciting but ultimately insufficient offense like other programs. We get crippled offense with short runs and incomplete passes--year after year after year while almost everyone else has circuses and scores 28, 35, 42 points. We don't even get an open and dynamic rushing game with tricks and big gains. Yay, how exciting!

The optimism is encouraged. This was a complete rebuild in arguably the toughest division there is. Measurable improvement this year is reasonable. Next year a bowl game is necessary.

Though our coach is lampooned by chat room commentary, he is highly respected by real, legitimate football people. He is a good football coach, and a better person. Even former players, whom I thought he was extremely tough on, have complimented his manner of running the program and his ability to push them to be their best. Our coach grooms his players into men that we can all be proud of. Good citizens, good fathers, good sons, good brothers. That coupled with regular bowl games, beginning next year, should ensure him being our coach for as long as he wants.

He's lampooned by having terrible teams that can't win games. Who cares how he runs the program if he can't win games or even entertain us a little with offense? That's the kind of thing you bring up, along with airy predictions of what HASN'T happened yet, when you don't have any actually accomplishments to point to.

I still thing greg can be successful here . But your post is spot on . None of that other stuff about running a program matters if you can’t win games.

While we all want the W, as it is the most important thing, a 35-28 or 41-38 game even as a loss is still better than a low scoring one. That you still lose.

And it's all the more frustrating and annoying because this is an offense crazed era. We watch everyone else score with exciting plays all weekend long and then we get to watch our team play tedious, plodding games and wonder how glorified community College teams can put up 28 on Ohio State or Clemson.

It would be very surprising to see much noticable change from last season in scores and eventual win loss mark. Perhaps the blowouts wont be as extreme but thats marginal

Just needs one extra win a year each year. We are not playing against BC and Pitt, it's State Penn, Orc State and Michigan, 2 CPF teams and one on the cusp. I'd rather the program get built right (though I'll take a flash season no doubt) than end up like Allen at Indiana, one minute hey IU is finally arrived next minute they are a dumpster fire. If Tuck at MSU bombs another season, those are 2 of the teams to pass, hopefully MD as well. The other 3, well, going to take time guys, like another 4 years, easy (sorry to be a downer, but the talent disparity between the top 3 and bottom 4 is massive).

What in the world gives you the impression the program is being built right?

Might be the best post in this thread. Hit the nail on the head.

I think the team will be more competitive this year, even if they only win 4 or 5 games. It would be nice to be in the games late in the 4 quarters with the other B1G teams even if they don't pull it off. I'm excited to see how Wimsatt has progressed. If he is all better he can scramble out of trouble like a deer.

Al is one of the best people on here. Had a blast with him in Michigan in 2021. Shame on you for disrespecting such a great person. Nobody's fault but your own that you have a negative outlook.
It's the coach's fault anyone has a negative outlook.

Personally I like playing slow tempo offense if it means we control TOP and keep the defense fresh.

The problem is that "playing slow tempo" doesn't control TOP or keep the defense fresh.
A bad offense tires out the defense.
Slow or fast doesn't' matter. 3 and out is 3 and out.
A "slow" 3 and out takes 2 min off the clock. Not really helping the defense.

I've never seen a defense complain about an offense scoring too much.
Unless we are playing the K.C. Chiefs, not really sure we need to worry about scoring too fast.
Lets try losing a game because we "scored too fast" and see how it goes.

We've tried "slow tempo offense, control TOP, conservative" for approx 20 years and it's worked like 3 times.

We also tried ultra fast tempo Ash first year
