I was living in Shepherdsville, KY and was but 7 yrs old but I can remember my Dad getting the fam down in the basement with a transistor radio and thank God we were spared.

Many it Ky and the Ohio Valley and Southern states were not.
Family and friends lived in Stamping Ground. Horrible night.

I remember that day. Lived in the Audubon Park area in Louisville. Tornado took our large oak tree down. 44” in diameter and pulled it out of the ground like a weed and laid it across the street.

Yeah, we had friends that lived in Louisville and I remember going to their house a day or so later and seeing a massive oak uprooted with a huge gutted hole in the yd. Im 53 now but its still crystal clear in my mind.

I remember the Xenia, Ohio tornado. That was the F5 that registered 2 miles across, if I remember correctly. Brandenburg also got hit. That was a horrific day...

My uncle lived in Xenia and he lost everything. He came home and his house was gone. His wife and daughter nowhere to be found. After digging through what was left of his house for an hour he found them alive and well in the basement. I was 16 at the time and lived in Eastern Kentucky. All the men in our family went to Xenia to help them. I can remember it looking like a bomb had been dropped almost every home was destroyed.

I've been close to two tornados around the F1 size....but nothing like this.

I remember. We didn’t have damage where we lived but dad drove us up to Campbellesville area the next day. Saw a lot of devastation.

I was eight and lived west of the area that got hit. I remember it was bad in western Kentucky that day and my brothers always talked about it as they were older. We were at school and a coach said there's going to be a tornado but they hit well to the east of us.

February 5th, 2008 is the last super outbreak I remember that affected us. in 2011, the one that hit Alabama was supposed to hit western Kentucky, west Tennessee and southern Illinois. The same area as 74 just start further west.

The tri-state tornado that went from Missouri to Indiana across southern Illinois was still worse.

I've been in cemeteries in southern Illinois with a dozen graves from March 18th, 1925.

I remember my parents listening to all the bad news on the radio. I was thinking there was no problem because our weather was fine. Later, it got to us. We just lost a few trees, thankfully.

I can see the unease in the faces of my 73 year old parents every time it comes up. Must have been scary AF.

11 years old, and spent the night of April 4th/5th in a small basement.

It only took one life in my County, but destroyed/damaged hundreds of homes in an area that got sufficient warning.

We lived in Germantown, Ohio (near Dayton) for a couple years right after my dad retired from the military. We were there when all this happened. It spared us, but I still vividly remember dad driving us to Xenia either the next day or a couple days later. I was only 9 at the time, but I can still easily remember numerous different examples of the damage Xenia suffered. To this day, it’s still the most horrific thing I’ve seen in person.

I live in a little town about 10 miles south of Brandenburg. Born and raised here and currently own a business in Brandenburg. I wasn’t alive at the time but there’s a story that goes around that a man was working in the sewer drain and poked his head out not knowing that a tornado was coming across the Ohio River and said the river literally parted and the land under the water could be seen. Not saying it’s true but that is from the judge of the county at the time. But according to Universal Studios it’s one of the worst in the country’s history.

Working at Standard Oil in downtown Louisville with a skeleton crew. No cell phones, internet to rely on. Phones out. Power out.

Had no idea how my family was. Terrible feeling. Tornadoes scare the crap out of me to this day.

I grew up in Nancy in the '80s and remember hearing stories about it. Nancy Elementary used to have a huge ditch on the playground that we'd often play it at recess, and I was told that it was a result of the tornadoes.
You're probably around my age. Knew a lot of people around Nancy.

I was a kid and can remember seeing three separate funnel clouds way up in the sky
moving from N KY over into Cincinnati. Absolute craziness.

Tornado went right down my driveway and into Cherokee Park. Uprooted 7 huge walnut trees in my neighbors yard and did no damage to our home. Ripped the roof off of our neighbors house across the street and went to Cherokee Park where the devastation was great. Remembered reading in the courier where they found chairs from the KFEC in Xenia Ohio. Truly a remarkably strong and powerful tornado. Saw it coming over my garage before we bolted for the basement. Terrifying.

Tornadoes are some crazy isht...the one that hit Indiana a few years back, we found debris in our backyard from hundreds of miles away.
I found some poor ladies bank statement in the woods of our backyard.

You close to Henryville and Chelsea? Got some family living there. Lived there during those bad ones a few years ago.
