My Uncle played in the early 70's in the O'Hare Suburban.The schools in the 4 team conference played each other twice so that reminds me of that.Also sometimes schools play each other in week 9 then again in Round 1 of the State Playoffs.This happened a few years back with Reavis vs TF South.I have 1 better for all of you.Urban Prep Bronzeville is scheduled to play both @ Ottawa & @ Aurora Christian on September 1st!! It could be a mistake but this did happen bak in the early 70's.Kankakee Eastridge only had 7 games played Thornridge on a Friday Night then the next night played at La Salle Peru for their 8th and 9th games

Back in the late '70s, a couple school districts in the Southland were prone to teacher strikes during a window of a few years. Forfeits resulted and upon eventual strike settlement, 2 games within a week was not uncommon to get the IHSA minimum number of contests scheduled, but not necessarily the same opponent.

Woody,That killed the 87 Lane Tech team which burned out and lost a close game to Mt.Carmel in the playoffs.Without the strike Tech really could have possibly gone all the way but instead no.They didn't even make the Prep Bowl title game

They should do that with the Big XII championship game, since it will definitely be a rematch. Also reminds me of the Mugs Halas game in week 16 of the Bears '79 season where they needed a certain # of points to finish ahead of Dallas and Washington, so the put a 40 spot on St. Louis.
