It's fair to wonder what the effect of newly appointed AD will have on CCC's job security. Surely the situation is different from what it would've been under Polisky.

Anyone have an idea of what Gragg's reputation was at Tulsa, for instance? Presumably, choice of NU's baseball head coach replacement is also on his immediate agenda

You have no idea what is on his immediate agenda and what is not. Nor does anyone else here know either. Or if he even has an "immediate agenda".

Most experienced managers take time to assess their new environment and responsibilities before taking any major actions, such as firing another high level person.

I think that it's extremely unlikely CCC will be replaced for the upcoming season. Nor should he be.

Agreed that Gragg would be wise to assess personnel carefully before making important changes. Certainly not before the coming season, as you suggest. In fact I tend to be a Collins supporter. My question was whether it was known, from Gragg's earliest stints as AD, whether he had any reputation for coaching turnover. By and large, Phillips did not -- and I feel that contributed to his success.

Baseball is of course another matter. Summer's a crucial recruiting period in that sport, and it wouldn't be a good look for NU to be without a named replacement for long. I didn't mean to suggest anything sinister by referring to the AD's "agenda." It's just that identifying and hiring a baseball coach is surely high on his to-do list upon arrival.

Come on man! We don’t have a baseball coach!!! How could that not be on his immediate agenda!! I didn’t read anything sinister in that comment

Other criticisms aside, Polisky was far less likely to give Collins a fresh evaluation than an outside candidate. That’s all most fans would want at this point.

The original poster raised a completely valid pair of questions.

1. Does anybody know anything about the new AD? (I do not)
2. Does anybody have an opinion as to how the new AD will view/treat Chris Collins?

He correctly points out that a replacement AD from outside NU is "different" than promoting someone who already has a relationship with Chris Collins, implying it may be negative for the coach. In my opinion, that assessment is reasonable and probably true.

Then he points out or reminds us that the new AD has to find a baseball coach ASAP.

You respond with "You have no idea what is on his immediate agenda and what is not. "

Of course, he never claimed anything like that. Nor did he say anything about Collins being fired immediately.

So my question to you is... What is the opposite of helpful?

Yeah, I guess I read the original post a little too fast. Substituted basketball for baseball. After all they both start with "bas' and end with "ball" so what's the big deal. Only real difference is a "k" and a "t'". Close enough.;)

I could see how that misreading would lead to a different kind of reaction.
