ISU call in show on 1460 just had Brent Metcalf on discussing the win. Talked about strategy in beating the Hawks…attack in matches where you have the advantage and minimize the damage in the matches where you could get majored and only give up a decision. Good job by them out strategizing B&B.

So, common sense. (not trying to disparage Outback or anyone else, but this is what should always be done for any Coach at any level, and I'm certain that's what they hope for - in this Metcalf is being interviewed and has to say something for x amount of minutes, so this is what we got)

I’m not sure ISU dramatically “out-strategized” anyone.

If Ayala/Kennedy win matches they led, Iowa takes the dual.

Did Iowa out-strategize ISU at 149? Or did Block beat Johnson at his preferred match anyway?

It sure wasn’t pretty, but you could say Kueter ‘strategically’ prevented bonus pts at 285.

Did ISU’s strategy work at 165? Sure didn’t look like it.

This dual didn’t come down to strategy. It was about execution - and ISU was better.

I agree. The dual didn’t come down to strategy.

In my opinion, it came down to leadership. Our two senior leaders lost in matches they were heavily favored in. It’s tough to win close duals when that happens.

This isn’t a slight at Ayala or Kennedy as I know they fought hard. It’s just a reality. And those losses will stick with them much longer than they will stick with us as fans but I hope they can use it as fuel.
