Ronnie Green, who currently serves in three top administrator positions within the University of Nebraska, is getting a promotion.

NU President Hank Bounds named Green the 20th chancellor of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln campus on Wednesday afternoon.

The announcement came a little more than a year after Harvey Perlman said he planned to step down at the end of the 2015-16 school year.

Green, 54, was selected over two other finalists who remained in the search.

I will play, he's too old. Seriously though, excellent choice.
Outstanding choice IMO. I've met him a couple of times and was very impressed. He's probably a little bit more of an average Joe kind of guy than HP but is extremely sharp.

HP was/is an extremely bright man albeit perhaps a bit tone deaf. Unfortunately in part due to his lack of expertise in college athletics he made some mistakes there.

I'm looking forward to what RG will do for Nebraska

Chancellor Ronald or Ron, maybe, but Chancellor Ronnie? Is he 12?
If you met him you would probably just call him Chancellor Greene. Some friends of mine have known him since college. I've met him and will call him Ronnie. He's a pretty unpretentious guy from what I can tell that has climbed the ladder by being very competent at his job.

I like Ronnie better than Ron or Ronald.
If I was named Ronald I go with Ronnie too.
If I was him and I had big moustache, I'd go with Ron.
But he doesn't.

So, Ronnie.
