I don't know if that's totally accurate. Only so many coaching spots available, and Nolf obviously had other plans with Athletes Ocean in TX. That gives him valuable coaching-type experience. And he is an absolute master technician with a monster wrestling IQ. Watching some of his interviews, he will analyze tiny details in matches or matchups that I never even thought about. And he is just a standup sportsman and genuinely likeable guy.
He expressed interest in being a D1 coach recently on Flo. I'd take Nolf in a heartbeat if change is coming. Doesn't have the high-level freestyle accolades, but that doesn't always translate to a good coach. I think he has all the right ingredients to be a fantastic coach.
I am generally an idiot, but if I had to put together a new staff, it would be Askren HC for at least the near term, with Nolf, Kem, Dake, and/or Spencer as assistants, one of whom could rise to be the next HC when the time comes.
