No, I think Penn State and Oklahoma State are clearly 1 and 2. I'd argue right now based on what we are seeing, Virginia Tech has done a lot in a short time and Nebraska and Ohio State over a more longer period. If it was top 3, I'd think you'd see more recruits, coaches and freestyle guys coming in. I just don't see the appeal. Facilities? Ohio State is better. Recruits? Penn State, Oklahoma Stateand VaTech are doing better. Results? Nebraska, Penn State and Oklahoma State are better. I just don't see it.
This is just sheer nonsense

No, I think Penn State and Oklahoma State are clearly 1 and 2. Gable retired in 98. Most of these people mentioned to replace due to appeal of program, weren't even in school yet. I'd also point to the HWC and the quality there and what it attracts. Top 5, absolutely. I don't see 3 right now.
You are massively underestimating the support for the program. Iowa is clearly still in the top 3 programs. No arguing that we have underperformed recently and others are catching up.

I'd like to enjoy the rest of the season as well. Sorry if having championship or bust expectations affects my enjoyment but it really has. And I'm clearly not alone.
The ending:
Dual losses to TOSU, neb and okie st to add to the 3 losses already.

4 at B10s

5-6 at nattys

i just dont see this group improving over the next 60 days. Morale has to be low. Brands feeling pressure so his already abrasive crappy attitude will be worse. Hes gonna lose some of these guys imo as far as their give a **** level ie Bailey williams. Can see ferarri already peaked. Can also see BK give a **** level slip…..way to much hype on that poor kid out the gates.

Kueter is taking way too much heat this year. Dude came out of HS splits time as a RS then AAs his freshman year with 6 Covid super seniors in his weight then has hip surgery in the off season. Just out here catching strays. Maybe some grace.

He isn't healthy. His mother said he's dealing with an injury and I believe it's fair to say it's more serious than we know.

Right. Just frustrating that everyone understands the path he’s taken plus the injury. Just never good enough for some 🙄

To address your first comment- yes it has mostly to do trolls who I wont respond to at all, but also the so called IOWA fans that only come here to complain.
I do not want to accept mediocrity at all, but anyone who thinks we will hire a new coach and within a few seasons we will be beating PSU regularly is nuts! and that is why loosing the Basset's and Co. is such a big deal.

TnT had things going great again, how would things look to everyone if Bo was still coming to Iowa along with Melvin and the great commits we DO have coming in? please answer this hypothetical. If losing this commitment was solely on TnT then they both should resign immediately, but Im way more then 83% certain this is not the case.

I dont want to comment any further on what I do know about other programs, but there is not a single chance this would have happened to them or a few other programs

Yes I agree we look like **** right now and I dont know what happened to Endene, I have a feeling TnT once again are taking the heat but were in fact trying to do the right thing. I still think we will end this season on a high note, unfortunately probably not high enough for most.

This is not easy and there is NO quick fix. I will always be a Hawkeye fan, but if they fire TnT and hire someone wants to completely gut the culture and foundation Gable built, I will no longer be the diehard fan I have always been!
The “burn all bridges,” culture is what you’re a fan of? I’m thinking that culture might be part of the problem.

100%

It’s BS the way some fans have trashed him. I hate when people talk negative about any kid but especially when it’s not deserved.

That's how the end starts, it did for Fran, and it would for Ferentz, but Football rules and Iowan's love their Hawkeye Football, so Kinnick is gonna be mostly full to full regardless, IMO. (In fairness to Kirk, Iowa played well this year, other than the buyout he shouldn't have survived the Brian as OC years IMO)

But Iowan's also love their Wrestling.
Beth forced Kirk to upgrade his Assistants, she might do the same with Tom. We shall see.

And lastly, the University of Iowa is not broke. They are currently 15th in the country for $valuation$, one spot ahead of the vaunted Southern California Trojans.
Beth was Brian’s direct boss instead of Kirk because of the nepotism. Kirk still had the power to hire whoever he wanted to replace him. I don’t think she would directly fire our assistant coaches, but could put the screws to TnT to revamp the staff. They could refuse to, but then they probably would have to resign. Tom would still choose who to replace them with.

Nope. It’s 79-21….I just voted and saw the vote count. Close to 400 votes.
on the other board you could see who voted. I can’t tell how to do that here, now.

i suspect a lot of PSU posters may have voted to keep the same coaches.

79% is still very overwhelming and it doesn’t take PSU people to vote to show 21% ting to keep the Brands’. Contrary to what you think, not everyone wants him fired. Hell two of my wrestling guru friends don’t want Brands fired so people do exist on that side.

Could you imagine how fast heads would spin if all of a sudden Cael was Iowas coach.

idk what would be funnier Iowa fans back tracking everything or the absolutely butt hurt psu fans that would be here. You’d be able to hear their tears through their words. I think that’s a world I want to live in.
He will retire at PSU, but Iowa would be the last place he would go to.

I agree. Great kid and sthlete. Im a fan of his. I just see him either losing interest, scared to fail or injured. Can you imagine how many he’s 17/18 years old coming out of high school with all that pressure on them from everybody building them up way beyond anything you could ever attain. Pressure! You see it in his matches. Scared to take a chance risk or hell even a shot. Brands culture effect! Trust me

Dub you are way off base and there has not been a bridge burnt since Gilman. That is something that has been fixed ask anyone that has been on the team recently.

It’s confirmed he had hip surgery. I’m sure that has nothing to do with his reluctance 🙄

Well no ****. It was said in jest.

The OP should have made these votes visible. I’d like to see how many known psu supporters want us to keep Tom Brands. That alone may speak volumes.

Ever since the switch over I can’t tell friend from foe. I think there are a number of rats in our new home giving us their opinion about what Iowa should and should not do.

Is isn't fixed with Gilman,Metcalf,St John,Dresser,Schwab,Zadick,Jbo,Slaton, and who knows who all else. Has there been anybody good that left since Gilman? What was fixed? Brands hasn't made amends with any of them as far as I know. Why make stuff up? He hasn't crossed anymore bridges so he hasn't burnt any more bridges? Is this what you meant to say? Mo was just on the team. Let's ask him.

Tickets for PSU meet are always too high, and this year I think people saw the writing on the wall and said I’ll watch the massacre on TV. Everyone is crapping their pants about how great tOSU is this year. Anyone think they can make a duel with PSU close enough to keep people’s interest until the end?
No. :(

What would it take for Beth to fire Tom?

Right now, there is some apathy and too many empty seats at Carver.

If we do poorly at the B1G and NCAA Championships, will that be the end of the Brands' era?
I'm thinking that with this team if we don't finish top 3-4 at NCAAs that should be the writing on the wall. This band of brothers has been together long enough to do whatever they should be capable of doing.

3-4th at the NCAA tournament shouldn't be considered a success at Iowa but it is now, so I agree. It will be worse next year with three teams almost certainly ahead and 4th being the likely high point. PSU has been way out front but in all of the titles they have won Iowa has only finished 2/nd one time. Without PSU Iowa would have still fallen way off.

Absolutely offer grace if he takes losses. However, grace for no offense? Can't do it. I'm really tired of watching some of our guys...it sucks. Love Hawks wrestling; don't love what we're putting on the mat these days. Our offense sucks!!!

Then he doesn't need to be on the mat. Let's get him healthy so he's ready in March - or March of next year - instead of sending him out there injured so he'll never be healed and prepared. WTF are we doing if this is in fact true?

You are asking him to get kicked off of the team. Mo tried to do the healing thing, and look where it got him.

I’m sure his lack of offense has nothing to do with being healed after offseason surgery. Pile on. My bad. He’s been taking heat since last year when he….AAd…

If he's not healthy enough to wrestle and show offense then I don't think he needs to be out there when it matters. I'm not saying our guys need to wrestle injured...just the opposite.
