Quite frankly, after seeing how Pope wants to build and play his rosters, he can forget about getting any elite studs, HS or Portal, because those dudes don’t want to be in and out of game 8-9 times a contest, getting ~20 minutes a game!
Does Pope not have ANYONE around him that can explain this to him? Brooks? Hart? Anyone?!? Good grief!

Don't worry, we'll grab players from the likes of Jackoff State and Bumville University to supplement our roster. We gonna be fine
Hey some of our guys last year from Jackoff State played harder than our SEC transfers have this year.
I think Pope is too focused on forming a team like the 96 team, with incredible depth. That is extremely rare. In a lot of cases, depth causes more problems than it solves. Don't spread those minutes (and money) over so many players. Just go get the best players you can get. We have the budget for it.
Agree. You need a 8 man rotation with 3 studs. I know we have had a bad run, but injuries are fairly rare and you can’t have stud depth anyway because studs expect to start and play 30+ min a game
Until Pope actually lands an out of state stud player, I will believe it when I see it. Not feeling great about his ability to do so.

If we miss out on Collins and Stokes and we have a losing season this year. BBN won't welcome back Pope next year. That is a fact jack.
I don't know how after this type of start to the season, we are ever going to get a 5* recruit.. not unless we turn it around. You can make the argument that the only recruits we got were from KY or had deep ties to the state.
Its not always about th freshmen it is about getting the right pieces in the portal sometimes. We had better luck last year in the portal compared to returning depth and portal this year so far anyway. Pierre and lamar probably would have done great here. Lamar I get Indiana hired his coach to get him which is a little much
Pope and his staff can't recruit. BYU is rolling now and getting recruits. So, it isn't hard to figure out.
Agreed! Not to mention, the large majority of those 96 guys played together for years. Really hard to add 10-12 new guys to a roster and expect them to come out the gate as world beaters.
This kind of stuff really makes you wonder if the rumors about JMI being TOO INVOLVED in our NIL negotiations are true.

Pope can’t coach, recruit, or be a leader… What can he do well? wtf. Hell, Tubby Smith and Billy G were able to get 5 star players. I don’t think I’ve ever seen Kentucky not have one single commitment during the early signing period(correct me if I am wrong).

UK had to sign Stokes and Collins in the early signing period or they weren't going to get them. Too many things can happen like other schools getting involved and the player's thinking changing.
If he were to even do that he would need players the caliber of Anderson, Mercer, Walker, Delk, and McCarty and that’s a pipe dream!
I knew as soon as he didn’t immediately sign in the fall we were done for.
It sure appears that way to me. You don’t have all these so called funds and miss on every single expensive star you recruit. Every single day that passes shows me more and more we have to make a coaching change. If we don’t this will get so bad we will be Indiana.
Even if he has signed, he could get out of his letter of intent like Acaden Lewis after UK signed Lowe.

I'd kill for another Almonor-type on this team. Unfortunately, he'd probably be getting a lion's share of the minutes right now because he'd be one of the only ones out there who actually gives a ****.
Let me put on my shocked face. 
This staff can’t land an elite recruit to save its life. I wish we could just hit the fast forward button on what’s left of Popes tenure so we can get to the next coach.

Pope is just like the guy in fantasy football that goes to the auction draft and buys all "value" players and flex players and doesn't spend money on a couple sure thing studs. You know the guy, finishes 3rd or 4th in the league and makes the playoffs only to be bounced the 1st round and wonders why he got outscored by 30. It is because they studs are labeled studs for a reason and value players are just that. A team full of middling guys will never beat the team of 3 studs and solid 3/4 ROLE players who know their ROLE. Everyone on this team thinks THEY are the stud. We paid MSRP for a bunch of discount / value players. I would rather have 2/3 for sure guys and 3/4 solid role players than have 10 players who are in all reality, role players. We have a lineup of 10 role players that cost championship roster money. Why not just get the sure thing and have less "depth" ? 7 deep with studs is better than 10 deep and no studs. You HAVE TO have that one guy who can take over a game and put the team on his back, even if everyone played up to their ability, UK doesn't have THAT guy.
Is anyone really shocked? Pope has managed to prove himself a worse recruiter than the likes of BCG and Tubby. Even his staff, made up mostly of his friends from when he was coaching other programs, has proven useless. Even if Mitch Barnhart defies angry boosters and fans to bring back Pope for another year, anyone expecting any staff changes will be sorely disappointed.
I excused Pope recruiting at BYU due to limitations .
