Quadry Antoine just committed. From Belle Chasse, LA.<div><div>Has offers from: LSU, Pittsburgh, Arkansas, Oregon State, Southern Miss, and a bunch of other small schools.</div></div><div>
</div><div>Not sure how real the LSU over his.</div><div>
Here is what he said about us a month ago:</div><div>

I could play early there. I took a visit to Starkville and I liked it. It was nice. It's a real quiet town but I like it because I'm used to a lot of loudness. Coach Mullen knows what he's doing and I like him. The coaches seem tough there too. I like that because they will keep me doing what I'm supposed to be doing. He gets a personal foul on half the plays, but I love this kid.

Talk about it in Talk of Champions
Over the weekend, Belle Chasse (La.) rising senior Quadry Antoine attended Mississippi State's camp and brought his family with him on the trip. Antoine said he got that "comfortable feeling" at MSU and that led to his commitment to the Bulldogs on Monday night.

On Monday night, Quadry Antoine became MSU's fourth commitment for 2012.
Antoine becomes MSU's fourth commitment for the Class of 2012 and the first out-of-state commitment for the Bulldogs.

"I called Coach Greg Knox tonight around 8:30 to talk to him and he was around Coach Dan Mullen at that time," said the 6-foot-2 and 213-pound Antoine. "I told Coach Knox as soon as I came there the other day, I knew I was comfortable at Mississippi State. I felt that is where I belonged and their staff reminds me of my high school staff.

"So Coach Mullen told me if I knew what committing meant and that it meant that I didn't need to take any more recruiting trips or go to any more camps. I told him 'yes sir' and I wanted to be a Bulldogs. He then told me 'welcome to the Bulldog family'."

And Antoine said his family was just as excited with his news.

"My family was real happy and my younger brothers were very excited," said Antoine. "My mom and dad told me it was my decision the entire time. But when I finally called Coach Mullen, my dad said deep down inside that Mississippi State is where he wanted me to go."

Last year Antoine had 67 tackles with two sacks and seven tackles for loss en route to all-area honors. He also had other offers from Arkansas, Oregon State, Pittsburgh, Southern Miss, Florida International and Memphis among others.

Antoine will also graduate high school in December and will open his MSU career in January of 2012.

"Coach Knox told me they wanted me as a safety and said last Saturday I was the top safety on their board," said Antoine. "Some schools have mentioned me playing like a rover or a linebacker but MSU likes me at safety."

With his decision behind him, Antoine said he can now focus on finishing out his prep career with no added recruiting pressure.

"It is a big relief," said Antoine. "I am not saying anything bad about other schools but if I had gone on more trips, recruiting can get confusing at times. But I was fortunate to find my comfortable spot and fortunate to find my new home. Now I can focus on my high school career and I know where my future is. I am glad to say I am a Bulldog and I am going to the place I want to go to."

This dude knocks the 17 out of everybody. I am excited to have this guy head hunting in our secondary. Plus he is an early grad.

It would not suprise to see a kid with speed and this kind of size to bulk up once they get on campus and move down and play linebacker. I think that it will depend on the depth chart at saftey.

Mullen and Co. better be able to reign this walking personal foul in. I watched his tape for about 2 minutes and he had already racked up about 100 yards in personal fouls. He doesn't read the ball, he just tries to kill someone.

I don't think he will have the height to play LB unless he grows a couple of inches. I don't think Mullen will drop a short LB in there like Nutt.

I think he'll be a helluva safety if he learns to defend the pass and play under control.

He reminds me of the guy we just enrolled from GA, Nkemdiche. Similar size, speed, and both love contact.

Nice get.

I had second thoughts when I saw the 5' 11" on another site. He is more likely sub 6'.
I kind of figured you were going on the Paul Jones article.

Paul's articles about the guy are kind of inconsistent. Gurus (including ours) tend to fudge numbers on commitments. Paul calls the kid 6' in May ( http://alabama.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1218082 ) . Then a few weeks later, in another article from May, he calls him 5'11" ( http://alabama.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1222623 ) . Then in the commitment article he calls him 6'2" ( http://alabama.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1228922 ) .

In combines and such, he has been listed from 5'9.5" to 5'11". I'd say he is in the 5"10" to 5'11" range realistically. And who knows...he may still be getting taller.

I think they can coach some disipline, and still keep his aggression. gets some good depth in some clips, ball hawking. Good speed it seems, great run support, solid tackler, breaking down in one on one situations against a rb on the corners. Good get, worth the offer I think. I thought some of the flags were bogus. knocking fools out.
