Surprised no one has mentioned Lexington is getting a new Internet Provider. Metronet is going to run fiber optic through the whole city. This could be HUGE as now Spectrum has real competition unless they can match Gigabyte per second. Also this will kill cable television as with that fast of internet just stream everything. This deal to bring fiber to Lexington will make us the largest Gigabyte City.

If they don't start in Masterson Station, then they don't want money. There are more cable-complainers per capita in that area than anywhere else in town, or probably the nation.

I normally wouldn't be an early adopter, but if Spectrum doesn't respond with lower rates, then I might have to.

Metronet is my ISP, and be thankful you're getting it if it goes through. 300 mbps for $65 a month, no connection interruptions a la broadband, and 100 mbps UL speed. It's a godsend.

Do you use their TV service? How does it run to your house?

I don't, I just stream television.

The way it worked for installation on my street is they have a main power line running through the "skeleton" of the neighborhood, which was then tethered off to my nearest powerline. Few days later an installation guy came and buried the fiber cable through my yard and routed it to where I wanted my modem (and router if you want wifi).

Make sure you clarify with customer support whether they will be offering "Fiber-to-the-node" or "Fiber-to-the-home". In the former, the fiber cable stops at the street cabinet, and is usually a band-aid fix as opposed to the latter. I was lucky enough they were offering FTTH since I live like 3 miles from the rep branch.

There are more complainers about everything in the GD world per capita in that idiotic neighborhood.

I used to have a secretary who spent half her work time on the Facebook page Passive Aggressive ******** of Masterson Station. Fired that *****.

Being Masterson-adjacent (think Montclair/Chevy Chase), I can verify this. Half the neighborhood has buckets of money though to throw at this internet company.

You're gonna need MetroPLEX with at least NAS.2 to even think about streaming at these speeds bro. 300mb will straight up fry your puny lil PLEX setup.
