Interesting how the playoffs were already separated. This goes a step further by separating in the regular season as well. 23 state champions? Yikes.

They shouldnt even have "state" playoffs at that point and just have the same number of "Bowls" - here, that would mean the Chicago Prep Bowl, West Suburban Bowl (COD or NCC), Northland Bowl (Trinity-Lincolnshire, Ryan), Southland (Toyota Park), SW (J-Mem) etc.

It's a weird system to say the least. NJ is separates by state titles via location so you'd have the 4A North Private champs 4A North Public Champion etc.

About 80 private schools in NJ mainly in North Jersey, almost all of the private power are in North NJ. They are all in the same conferences (think CCL) so separating regular season has minimal effect except on some smaller enrollment privates outside of North Jersey.

Again Public/Private is a different deal in every state. Illinois/Chicagoland is a different deal just from the sheer number of Catholic schools in one central area (Chicagoland) compared to most other states.

The biggest difference is that the privates get all the best talent because they can scholarship them and there is a school voucher system. Additionally, the big powerhouse programs end up with shoe deals to supplement their cash flow.

Like I said in another thread give me a school voucher system to recoup my taxes and spend them as I see fit educating my child and you can do whatever you want with the system. This gives everyone the feasible option of school choice.

Although New Jersey has a voucher program, it does not involve private schools, only public schools. Public schools can accept vouchers if a public school district opts into the program. There was an attempt early in 2015 to enact a voucher program for private schools in New Jersey but it could not pass the legislature.

There are 21 counties in the state of New Jersey. There are 102 counties in the state of Illinois. So we should have 111.7 State Champions.

There are 964 High Schools in New Jersey. There are 760 High Schools in Illinois. So we should have 18.1 State Champions.

Whichever calculation you used the IHSA would have a hell of a time getting all of those games played over 2 days.

Conversely, to be equal to the State of Illinois population wise, NJ would have to take in all of eastern PA outside of the greater Philly metro area all the way west to State College PLUS the Hudson Valley of NY south of Albany.
