Per Jon Hale: The luxury suites are available to rent on a single-game or full-season basis. Rentals last 12 hours on game days and include hamburgers, hot dogs and soft drinks. Suites cost $8,000 per game for Southeastern Conference opponents and $6,000 per game for non-conference opponents.

I won't be renting one anytime soon - but kudos to those with the "wherewithall" that do, and good for UK for making them available.

Sorry to take a piss on this, but nothing about this screams "luxury" to me. Mobile homes catered with hot dogs and hamburgers?
I'm sure UK has received positive feedback from fans with the means to pay for them that they would be welcome. Would be stupid if they had not, slapping 5 or 10 of these things down on gameday but sitting empty.

UK probably picked up the idea because they were gaining popularity elsewhere. I know where I'm living now it started a couple years ago, at Georgia Southern. I think theirs were going for 5K the first year. If they aren't available at all SEC schools yet, I'm sure it won't be long.

Dont blame UK for doing it. I just dont understand the market for it. If companies want to spend this kind of money for their employees, more power to them. I just dont see it happening regularly, jmo.

Each private suite will have approximately 300 feet of indoor entertainment space, with a kitchen, four high-definition televisions, heat and air, a full-size refrigerator, and half-bath.

Sounds pretty luxurious for tailgating.

This email from UK went around our office yesterday and was received with gales of laughter. What kind of rube would spend that kind of money to sit in the parking lot in one of Uncle Barney's cabins to entertain clients and friends at Uk v. New Mexico State ($6000) or UK v. Austin Peay ($6000) or Vandy ($8000)?

It's clear the average Joe isn't the target audience for these. The suites are the same strategy as luxury boxes which I imagine most on here believe are outrageously over priced as well and yet they fill them. For companies and even large clubs the price isn't really that bad. Even most regular fans could swing this if they create a group. The suites hold 30 but that's probably pushing it. Let's be conservative and go with 20 people. You get with 20 friends and that's $300 each per game or $2500 each for the full season. That's still steep but a lot of typical fans can swing that. Although most wouldn't and neither would I. But again we aren't the target audience. If I ran a business in Lexington and was looking to entertain potential clients it might be a good idea then. That's really the target audience for these.

Overall this is a smart thing for UK to do to try to increase revenue. It will work but only as far as football as a whole works. If the team sucks then it will flop just like the stadium renovation will. If we have a good team and go to bowls they will fill the boxes no problem.

"Located in the southwest corner of CSW". That's right out front isn't it? If so, there will be a lot of walk through traffic in that area.

I would have thought they would have opted for a bit more "isolated" location. When PJCS was built UofL copied USCjr's idea and put a number of "party cabooses" just west of the stadium. They are very close to the stadium but well off the primary foot traffic pattern. I have no idea how successful this venture has been but they are still there.

Peace

Who would rather PAY $8000 combined to tailgate in a trailer versus being outdoors in the atmosphere that is TAILGATING for free (unless you were out the parking pass)? I see 80 year old ex-coal owner/operators tearing up the tailgating scene in these puppies!

And based off that picture....HOW IN THE HECK DO YOU FIT 30 PEOPLE IN ONE OF THOSE? That is 1 person for every 10 square feet lol.

"Make sure you stand in your 3x3 ft area Jimmy!"

No skin off UK's back - they probably get a percentage of income derived, with zero cost to UK. If they don't generate income, they won't be there next year.

Oh if UK didn't already have firm commitments to rent them they wouldn't be coming in the first place
Maybe, but UK doesn't have any skin in this game. If this company makes money, UK gets some of it. If they don't, then UK isn't out anything. In fact, UK may (should) have negotiated a minimum guarantee.
