Posting signs about a deadly animal in the water, not wanting to frighten people...they should make a movie about this kinda thing.

Yeah, I guess being aware of where you are and the dangers that are present is a pretty bad "take". Some people need their hands held and walked along, and others use their brains.

Think pretty highly of yourself, I take it?

These kind of quotes are always hilarious to me, "If I had been in that situation, I would have done this because I am SMART AND AWARE". Pure BS. And you have zero clue about what this family was like. Zero.

Fact is, there are probably thousands and thousands of people that have waded in this lagoon over the years, all unknowingly putting themselves in harms way due to the alligators present. It's a tragedy and has nothing to do with "personal responsibility". These people are in an unknown location far away from their home, so no, they probably don't have a great grasp on their surroundings or that even bodies of water attached to man made beaches may contain deadly animals in Florida.

Not that I'm all that smart, but aware..absolutely! There isn't any place I go that I am not constantly checking out my surroundings. I am responsible for my life not anyone else so you damn well better believe I am going to have a pretty good understanding of what is going on around me and the risks associated with the area.
It's not just this family, it's any person(s), that places themselves in a situation with KNOWN risks. It's freaking Florida for crying out loud...alligators, pythons, lightning, and sharks. You don't need to be a scientist to know the common dangers of any given area, just take a few minutes and do a little research.

I mean, I've never really seen a post comprised entirely of BS, but you sure were able to pull it off.

Yeah, I'm sure everybody is in the habit of doing research on potential life-threatening dangers anytime they're paying for a luxury hotel in the middle of a US state.

"Honey, before we commit to going down to the man-made beach outside of our luxury hotel where they're having movie night, let me hop on google real quick and make sure there's no risk of being eating by wildlife. Going down there blind would be suicide."

Not knowing facts about where you are going is just idiotic and you deserve whatever you get. You have to be a special kind of stupid to need everything done for your. Take some responsibility and be smart about where you go and what you do.

You're a piece of ****. I mean that with all seriousness. I'd absolutely love for you to tell the father that he deserves what he got by letting his son fill his bucket with water at the beach. He'd tear your *** apart.

Being surprised about an alligator attack in Florida. o_O

Does it suck that a child lost his life? Absolutely!

Should all the blame be placed on Disney? No. They should share the blame of course.

Don't think I could be any more clear.

:flushed:

Yeah it was a bit harsh, and was intended for the special people who can't believe this happened, not the family of the child. Could things have been done different, sure, but you can't change what's already happened. Would I allow my 6 year old to be in the same situation? Nope! I can imagine what the family is going through and how the father feels.

And what exactly do you find to be "BS"? Be specific.

1) That you have Spidey senses that always give you a complete awareness of your surroundings. Apparently you've never been caught off guard in your entire life.

2) The idea that people should research what is essentially a big hotel pool and make sure there isn't any man-eating wildlife potentially in there.

3) That going to freaking Disney world is an example of people putting "themselves in a situation with KNOWN risks".

I could go on, but I'll stop at 3 examples.

who else wants to show their high levels of morality and sympathetic nature by publicly stating there's no way they'll ever watch that video? I'm keeping a tally.

I've been trying to see it. It's nowhere on liveleak or uncensored.

Thinking of usin Tor browser and hittin the dark web.

The sad part is he'd probably just agree and cry. As a parent he's going to second guess every moment of that day.

It's not high levels of morality or sympathy, I simply don't want to watch a 2 year old snatched, taking into the lake and crushed in a gator's mouth. No more than I want to watch ISIS burn someone alive in a cage or slowly cut their head off with a dull knife.

Not my kind of theater.

But if watching that kind of gore makes you think you are special or more of a man than someone else...have at it.

I just want to see it to know exactly how it went down. That's it. Trying to form an opinion of what exactly happened is not possible without seeing it.

Where are you seeing that the video has been released?

I saw several articles or posts that supposedly had the security video from the incident. Maybe it was just a picture to get you to click the link, or maybe they've had it taken down. I wasn't going to watch it so I didn't go that far.

1) That you have Spidey senses that always give you a complete awareness of your surroundings. Apparently you've never been caught off guard in your entire life. Caught off guard a lot until I turned 19, then I got training on how to be aware of things around me, and limit risks.

2) The idea that people should research what is essentially a big hotel pool and make sure there isn't any man-eating wildlife potentially in there. It's Florida...if you don't know then...wow.

3) That going to freaking Disney world is an example of people putting "themselves in a situation with KNOWN risks". Again...Florida, water...there is a pretty good chance you will at least see one. Assuming that because it's Disney and there won't be any is slightly moronic.

I could go on, but I'll stop at 3 examples.

My personal opinion is I wouldn't have had my two year old in any sort of lake water at 9am. He's TWO, not 6, not 7, not 10, TWO. To hell with alligators, anyone ever heard of snakes? The world is a dangerous place for a two year old.

At the same time Disney owns a resort for tourist and their families that pay 600+ a night and there is no alligator awareness, no signs pointing to alligators, no restrictions on being around the edge line at night (thats how GD alligators feed half the time), no lights at the edge of the water at night, and no one looking out for the potential of an alligator getting near the resort beach area. That is INSANE. You can't even sit at a baseball game without reading warnings about foul balls, but pre-historic, known man eating apex predators? No need to scare people.

When we dive we get training on all animals that could be harmful, including sharks. When I'm using services to camp in yellowstone, you go through a process about bear awareness. When camping and rappelling in the Ozark Mountains of Arkansas, we had an hour long discussion on the way to the site about bears. To this day I know if I see one, head down the hill.

Disney World will pay a heavy price for this and they should. The lawsuit will be settled quietly and quickly.

Sometimes there's two wrongs.

Oh I definitely would watch it. Of course I was a big fan of the Faces of Death series back in the day.

I think I ate dinner through Human Centipede. Now I know it's all fake, but damn. That kinda stuff just doesn't phase me.

Human Centipede 1 or 2? I wouldn't recommend trying it while watching 2

Think it was part 2. which was the best one. IMHO

Willy...I'd love to meet you, but you scare the hell outta me.

After watching 2 I decided I would pass on 3. I can stomach a lot of stuff and gore doesn't bother me, but for some reason 2 made me very uncomfortable turned my stomach.

You never did look into those books I told you about, did you? I know you been busy.

You saying YOU didn't make it through the 2nd one? 3 takes place in a prison.

I haven't the 3rd one yet. Loved number 2.

Those books. Man, what are they again? Sorry, haven't been reading much these days.

I'll get back to you this evening on the books, I'll have to look on the shelf.

If you watch the 3rd one let me know how it compares to the 2nd and I might consider checking it out.

I'm dying for a new Hostile movie, tbh.

Thanks.

I wanna see Hardcore Henry. Looks violent. Not sure anyone has seen it.

Loved Faces of Death, we used to rent the movies on Friday nights when we were in grade school and follow them up with some Jason movies, My Bloody Valentine, etc. I remember the episode watching people eat monkey brains after taking off the tops of their heads.

I remember the faces of death scene where the girl had that massive leach on her arm and the men with her attempted to romove it by sawing it in half, of course only to make its teeth sink deeper killing her. Crazy.
