Best BBQ was a guy that would sometimes sit up his cooker on Georgetown Road near a county line.
Think he does mainly catering though.

I am excited about this one, but there's no way in hell I'm going to even try getting in until well after the holidays. Even City freakin' BBQ had a line out the door it's first few months.

Also, "Pitmaster Roberto Alvarez". Why do these celebrities hire little white women or huge jacked dudes to be their personal chefs? When I get rich, I'm having a cookoff on West Alexandria Drive.

More underwhelming food choices, for an already underwhelming food scene in Lexington. The BBQ growth phenomenon in Lexington is particularly strange. It seems the city is loaded with mediocre BBQ restaurants, but somehow they all stay packed.

The 21C project and Jeff Rubys will help majorly. I have no doubt that 21C will be the best spot in town when it opens its doors; taking over the spot held by Merrick Inn.

There is a gd Pizza Portal coming to Richmond. This sounds too good to be true. If it is what I think it is, the pizza game done changed. Big time.

Malone's is doing this venture as a direct response to the success of Blue Door Smokehouse, which was started by 2 former Malone's chefs (if I've been told the story correctly). They saw these guys hit it out of the park and decided they wanted a piece of the action. As a barbecue junkie, I'll try the Malone's venture a time or two to judge everything they make. But I imagine the crowds associated with the Malone's name will be a nuisance, and the quality won't be as good as Blue Door.

Coming to the Kings Pelicans game Saturday. Will be arriving early at around 2:00. Downtown will be a cluster. Best options for beer and food? Living in Somerset I dont make it downtown much.

To me, Malones has really fallen off the last few years. In the past, it was as good of an experience as you could get anywhere. Just not the case the last 3-5 years.

BBQ is a giant hit in Lexington. And it seems thats only happened the last 3 years or so.

Yep. I agree but they have no reason to change becaus it hasn't hurt their business. Place is always packed.

Maybe Tony's and Jeff Ruby's, when and if he opens in Lex, will force Malone's to up their game.

Saul good is terrible.

For those of you calling Lexington food scene lame this is the same type of bbq concept that is all the rage in DC Boston Etc. If they do the meat correctly which sounds like they will it will be just fine.

The myth that a place with multiple locations or "new" feel cannot produce food like the time you had a pork sandwich from bobobs trunk is simpleton.

Yep. Foodies tend to think chains can never be good. They can and are. They aren't going to be the epitome of gourmet cooking but decent food fixed consistently at decent prices will always be a good addition to any cities food scene.

Just like high end upscale eateries or niche eateries focusing on small plates or exotic cuisines have their place.

I enjoy a great meal at a high end restaurant as much as the next guy. But that doesn't mean I can't enjoy a chain meal sometimes too.

Not sure if they have one yet but Lexington is about to get a Mellow Mushroom and BJ's Brewhouse.

Haven't heard about Po Folk's but I've heard there is a new Sambo's going up over on Westport Rd.

We lived in Lexington from 92 to 02, we are back there mostly for home football and basketball games these days. While today's Lexington food scene is not the greatest, it's exponentially better than when we left in 2002.
