Went to Malone's this weekend. For those that say the quality isn't the same are absolutely off their rocker.

May be. I went about 4 times and it wasnt bad. It was just subpar. Not what I was used to when I went to Malone's in the past. So I havent been back since.

I assumed Malone's would pick it up in advance of the 21C and Jeff Rubys restaurants opening. Otherwise, theyd lose a chunk of their customers.

If any of you ever venture over to my neck of the woods (Elizabethtown), E'town has a slew of things happening:

- Buffalo Wild Wings opened this month on Ring Road (in front of the new Hobby Lobby and the new Academy)
- Buffalo Wings & Rings opened this week in the former Fergie's (down the road on Ring Road, near Target)
- Moe's closed and is being replaced by same owners with Topp't Pizza
- Iggy's Woodfired Pizza is opening downtown
- Bourbon Barrel Taven is opening downtown
- Wicked-Eye Woman Public House (english taven) is opening downtown
- Nolene's Country Fixins just opened in Towne Mall (Rising Phoenix Pizzeria opened in the mall a few months ago)
- WhoDo's Pizza (in the former Namaste location next to La Quinta off exit 94 on I-65) has been open a few months
- Arby's (rebuild of a location that burned) will open this month or early November on West Dixie (between the hospital and St. James)
- 701 Fish House opened this summer in the former BunBakers location (walking distance of WhoDo's)

More underwhelming food choices, for an already underwhelming food scene in Lexington. The BBQ growth phenomenon in Lexington is particularly strange. It seems the city is loaded with mediocre BBQ restaurants, but somehow they all stay packed.

The 21C project and Jeff Rubys will help majorly. I have no doubt that 21C will be the best spot in town when it opens its doors; taking over the spot held by Merrick Inn.
Have you been to Tony's yet?

I havent but I plan to. How is it? It looks promising. So does Hop Cat - I saw a pic of some fries they were featuring that looked great.

Limestone Blue is a welcome, on the rise addition to downtown. And Ive always loved Local Taco.

I just always favor the locally owned restaurant over chains.

Your wish is coming true. Building one on new circle on north side. Or maybe it's Popeyes but aren't they the same anyway.

Bout time! I'm ok with either one of them. I think Popeyes has better fries

I avoid the Popeyes in terminal B of ATL almost weekly and it takes all the strength I have.

Hopcat last night for the soft opening during TNL, really cool venue food was fine and free but Village Idiot has it beat in that category. Still with >100 beers on tap I will be back.

Tony's is outstanding, also @BBDK I'm in my 20s if I want to sit around for 10 hours and smoke a brisket after an evening of Dateline on the couch I will have to learn old first not that I don't understand the appeal. Steaks on the other hand I am :fire:

J Alexander's is owned by the same company that ones O'Charleys and max and irmas Just saying
They are not owned by same group that owns O'Charleys, were at one time, they were bought out by another restaurant co. here in Nashville.
J Alexander's is pretty darn good, the one on West End Avenue next to Vanderbilt is called Redlands restaurant but they had to put the sign up that it was Redlands by J Alexander's because so many people were disappointed. The parent co. did not want J's to be considered a chain and I understand that. J Alexander's is one of the best places to eat anywhere, it would be considered a $$$ type restaurant casual but upscale.
Cool Springs has the Brick Oven Pizza.

Very funny when they interview celebrities and music people down here that they always mention J Alexander's as one of their favorites
Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman, country singers, actors etc.. Funny but I have been going to J's for 20 years and it was like a O'Charleys and now it's like a higher end but still casual eatery. NO draft beer, great fries and sandwiches, salmon is flown in 2 a week from Scotland. Prime Rib is pretty darn good.

10 years ago this would have been a big deal to Lexington. My favorite Lexington restaurant is Merrick INN.
IMO

Grew up in E-town, don't get back nearly enough. Glad to see they're getting pubs and bars in downtown. Heard etown's downtown is coming along since the county government moved out to Ring Road.

- Meats Market is fairly average. Definitely going for the "look" of a hip restaurant. The chopped ([eyeroll]) pork is so fine it has a mushy consistency and the brisket is cut as thick as your average porterhouse. Slaw literally had no flavor. Banana pudding was decent.

Overall it appears they focused a whole lot on the aesthetic and not too much on the actual food.

- bbdk's wife bought him a smoker a year ago. now he's a bbq master [jumpingsmile]

Just found out the reason Willie's Locally Known is moving is because the Greers bought it.

Using the wife's discount at Cheddars and Coba is nice but half price BBQ will be :100points:

So when are they going nationwide with Coba? That was the plan wasn't it?

I don't think so, but she works on the Cheddar's side, so I couldn't say for sure.
