u prob only said that bc walter won the championship lol, even though flagg is the better player
I dunno, probably but Flagg has looked kinda rough so far. I know he will probably get there, but most thought Laettner would be a great pro.

When everyone said UK is done deal, I knew it would be 1 week and we’d be out of the running. Guys, this is all agent speak. They are taking bids. Say Kentucky is a done deal and other teams go up. Tell Kentucky they’re being passed up and Kentucky raises their bid.

Really don’t understand why this is so hard to get at this point. My advice as someone who’s been doing (following recruiting and been involved in a few) 25 years, it’s not worth following. It’s going to be like this year in and year out. Focus on the team and let Pope play in the recruiting game. You are never going to know what’s really going on.

Or keep doing it and go through this endless cycle year in and year out. If you enjoy it then you’ll get to do this over and over.

Spot on. Pope is going to get a lot of high character guys. That’s just who he is and what he won’t compromise on. And we’ll be (already are) a better program for it. Anybody stressing over Stokes or any other recruit is a miserable bloke who can’t appreciate the state of UK basketball in this moment.

I don’t agree he was a better player. Clayton won Florida 4-5 games on his own. Hit big shots when it mattered. Duke put 3-4 games in the hands of Flagg and he lost all 4. Had 2 turnovers in the last 2 possessions against us to seal our win.
Better pro prospect, yes.
Better college player, No.

Clayton is that good, even if you change Clayton with another good player, Florida would exit in round 32

I think our current PLATOON TEAM, yes I said those two words, will hurt with recruiting kids for next year. Will a top ten come to us for JJohnson minutes? And oddly, strangely, I'm okay with that.

We don’t have a platoon team. Once the season starts Kam is playing spot minutes, Moreno is probably around 10-15. We will have a deep but normal rotation of 8-9 guys.

I have heard enough from CMP now on his recruiting/roster building philosophy here at UK and have seen enough in what he has put together for rosters in two recruiting/portal cycles to be fully confident that he and the staff have a plan that will work and have the tools, resources, and intelligence to execute that plan to build a competitive roster every year.

In his first year, starting completely from scratch and with limited time, he put together a roster that was competitive, capable of winning at the highest level when healthy, fun to watch, full of seemingly high-character quality guys, with no chemistry issues who all seemed to 'get' what BBN means and played at least to some degree for the name on the front of the jersey.

In his second year, after a very promising first season was derailed somewhat by injuries, he recognized the limitations of that first roster and recognized what it takes roster-wise to compete and win at the highest level. He built a second roster that is much deeper, much more athletic, likely much better defensively, and seemingly very well situated to win even more than in his first year.

I have full faith and confidence that he will build teams that will win at the level we expect to win at, are a joy to watch, and are teams we will be proud of ... regardless of whether he pulls from HS ranks, portal, or returning players. If Stokes, or anyone else, doesn't want to be a part of the goliath that I feel is being built here, then so be it. I am not concerned.

Go Big Blue ...

Two weeks ago Stokes was a generational talent. Now he’s just one of many.
I've never seen anyone say Stokes was a generational talent. He is the best player in his class....a week class compared to last year. If he is lobbying for more money then pass on him. Get multiple players who want to be here and not make it all about themselves....I don't see any reason an unproven hs player should be able to demand the kind of money I've seen posted on here. That's just ridiculous.

Right before BBM, while everyone was talking about Stokes being a done deal and crystal balls and whatnot, Pope was saying in a press conference that we don’t need the #1 player. First, he’s right about that. Skill, experience, selflessness and intelligence matter more with Pope’s system that pure talent. Second, that may have been a hint that things weren’t quite as certain internally about Stokes being a Cat, but who knows. I’d like to have him but if we don’t get him, I’m good. Either way, if Pope is your coach, you win.
Honestly, I think the majority of the time , we are not “in the lead” as reported. Last year all the recruiting “guru’s “ were saying that about Caleb Wilson and after he committed to UNC it came out that he had always favored the heels and we were never really “in the lead”. Then everyone points at CMP and yells “How’d you lose him “ .
