I have heard enough from CMP now on his recruiting/roster building philosophy here at UK and have seen enough in what he has put together for rosters in two recruiting/portal cycles to be fully confident that he and the staff have a plan that will work and have the tools, resources, and intelligence to execute that plan to build a competitive roster every year.
In his first year, starting completely from scratch and with limited time, he put together a roster that was competitive, capable of winning at the highest level when healthy, fun to watch, full of seemingly high-character quality guys, with no chemistry issues who all seemed to 'get' what BBN means and played at least to some degree for the name on the front of the jersey.
In his second year, after a very promising first season was derailed somewhat by injuries, he recognized the limitations of that first roster and recognized what it takes roster-wise to compete and win at the highest level. He built a second roster that is much deeper, much more athletic, likely much better defensively, and seemingly very well situated to win even more than in his first year.
I have full faith and confidence that he will build teams that will win at the level we expect to win at, are a joy to watch, and are teams we will be proud of ... regardless of whether he pulls from HS ranks, portal, or returning players. If Stokes, or anyone else, doesn't want to be a part of the goliath that I feel is being built here, then so be it. I am not concerned.
Go Big Blue ...
