I know it is only 2 games into the season, but this years team looks a lot like last years team. They just can not run the ball. Run blocking needs improvement. Receivers....about the same as last years. And, again our defense scores a touchdown. The offense will put you to sleep. No creativity and conservative play calling. Not much more you can say....but still love the Hawks....go Hawks!

Yesterday was typical of most of Iowa's wins under Ferentz. The offense does just enough while the defense and special teams are given the responsibility for actually winning the game. Most head coaches, given this same personnel--and Phil Parker and LeVar Woods--would have beaten ISU about 35-6. But under KF, even most wins don't have that positive vibe because he thinks it's silly to win a game by 30 points when you can win it by 7. As far as I know, he's the only head coach in college football history who has had that mentality. But Parker and Woods are the ones who make it work. Can you imagine what KF's career would look like without Norm Parker, and then Phil Parker, running the defense? And Woods' special teams continue to help provide a winning edge.

Sure it's great to be 2-0. But I hope I live long enough to see an Iowa team led by a coach who understands that offense is legal, and that scoring as many points as possible is an effective and entertaining way to play winning football. Iowa has had a couple of head coaches who knew that, but it's been awhile since Evy and then Hayden ran things in Iowa City.

It wouldn't surprise me a bit if KF goes for Amos Alonzo Staggs' record: Staggs, as you may know, had the longest coaching career—71 years—in the history of college football. In 1943, at the age of 81, he was named college coach of the year, and he remained active in coaching until the age of 98, so KF has another 30 years ahead of him. But that may be a lot to ask of LeVar Woods and, especially, Phil Parker . . .

I agree 100 % with you Dukeslater21. New year, same old stuff. With supposedly better QB, out offense is still stagnant. We were what, ranked 130 in offense last year? Looks like we may duplicate that this year. Christ, we could only score 3 points against ISU in the 2nd half? Iowa just does not consider recruiting players with speed at the WR's and RB's. Our offensive scheme is....run the ball 2 times for 3-4 yards, then pass to a TE. WR's can't get separation. I see a 7-5 or 8-4 record again this year. What about that 25 points a game mandate?
