Apologize guys. It was on the front page a few hours ago when clicked on the site. Also, I don't know how to do the link thing. It is not a premium article.

Reading that doesn't seem to bode well for the Cats,if the team is that unmotivated we have a real problem. It may not be an X and O issue or an issue of teaching fundamentals or even a football issue with the coaching staff. It may be a communication issue in that the coaches can't connect with the players and get their message across.

Can a coaching staff really lose a whole team in 3 games? Gran seems like a bright guy with a history of reasonable success everywhere he has been

Are the players convinced that they are over matched to a degree that they are willing to quit at this point?

The article seems to say exactally this

People are underestimating how big of a blow it was to lose to Shannon Dawson. Players lost what little confidence in Stoops they had. At least on the D side of the ball.

Sounds like it's more than smoke, it's like a fire out of control.

Whether Dawson was any good or not is irrelevant. He was a scapegoat. The players aren't dumb, they get this. Plus didn't Towles tweet the same.

This does not make sense. If Dawson was not "any good," the players would get that, because they are not dumb, and they would know he was not a scapegoat. So, whether he was any good is relevant.

There are a number of players on this team who understand why Dawson is gone and are happy about it. I think Stoops is being honest when he commends Dawson's abilities. I just think he avoids the real issue. But, I think many of the players understand.

But totally ignores SEC Trailblazers statue unveiling. But at least we got a basketball schedule breakdown.

It appears that the players have NO faith in the coaches ability to coach. I believe the coaches realize their on the "Hot Seat", and are trying to put the blame on the players for not performing. I've always thought a coach should get 5 years to right a program, but the program has to be improving the 4th year. It doesn't appear this one is. This is the first time I've said it, but I admit a lot of the posters are correct. IT'S TIME FOR COACH STOOPS AND TROOPS TO BE REPLACED.
No more DC or OC, but someone who is a HC, and not an old one. There are a lot of good young coaches out there. Let's get one!

Motivation & emotion play a huge part in this sport. Based on the reports from the USC side their team will be confident, emotional, & play with their hearts out, they have a 2-1 start & know this is a must win to try and make a bowl game this year. And would already match their last year win total of 3.

I always thought it was significant that Towles and Reese Phillips left.....What does that say?

The lack of discipline with this program under Stoops is mind blowing.

How many other programs would you see a player in a bowl deciding game throw a ball up in the stands after scoring a touchdown.

There were players last year who stepped up and addressed this team and told them things that apparently no one else had the balls to them.

Those players were completely ostracized.

Apparently, Stoops is just as boring and uninspiring in practice as he is in every single interview I've ever seen with him.

You never learn anything from him. From the article:

"I don’t know why we just can’t lock in and go to work every day."

"...we absolutely regressed today, and that's our problem. That's our problem."

"We have no idea what it takes to have concentration, from the beginning of the week through the end and through a whole game and so on. You get the picture?"

it’s frustrating
.

If we’re so fragile we can’t handle the truth, we’re not going to win many games."

Good lord - here we are in year 4 of the Stoops era. UK is paying him $$millions$$ for this.

The players have seen the same thing the fans have seen, the last two seasons UK has crashed and burned the second half of the schedule. They blew a big lead to So. Miss. and were humiliated against Fla. They beat NMS but not the way they should have. There is nothing to give this team confidence in themselves or the coaching staff.

I'm looking for light. There's not much but there might be a little.

If Barker was hurt in Summer camp, the total collapse of the offense in the second half of the first game may have been related to that injury being aggravated in the first half. The defense was awful but it had to play 93 snaps
The Florida was a repeat of the second half of the first game and the defense was bad too, but Florida is not the team it was last year. It is much better.
When it was finally determined that Barker couldn't go, Johnson came in and fired up the offensive in the last game. the defense was still bad, but in the second half, gave up only 7 points despite giving up a lot of yards.

The key is this week. They need to play hard and smart on both sides of the ball. a win this week and a bowl game is still a possibility. Lose this week and things look might dark.

My take away is I read about lack of discipline, I read about them not being smart, I see them fold on the field at the first sign of adversity, and I read that they players aren't improving because they can't handle the truth.

Soft, soft, soft.

To me, it seems as though the coaches don't know how to "coach" these players. I don't believe these kids are bad kids and uncoachable.
They know how to recruit and sell UK. Not sure they know to teach and motivate these kids when they get 'em here. JMO.
