This would hurt more if you had not went over the cliff on Trump hatred. You will abandon your main policy beliefs over this issue. MAGA supported Paxton, so you post quite a bit celebrating his potential demise. I am not sure you would cop to this, but it is quite apparent.
You are a very reasonable individual and I enjoyed having lunch with you, but behind a key board you tend to be a bit rude.
Of course I'm rude. I don't see you all playing beanbag.
Bottom line, you are offended that I don't toe the GOP company line. You actually somewhat view it as treasonous. I hate Hillary Clinton (I just think Kamala is kind of a fool), and I voted for her because (a) I believe Trump is obviously unfit for office (and deep down you know I'm right on that) and (b) I think populism is a fool's ideology that does little more than inflame passions and does nothing to solve problems.
I would be the first to tell you the Trump #1 ended up - at least before Covid - much more like a standard GOP Admin than I expected and I was on balance happy with the outcome. Because I true to acknowledge reality.
In the interim between the two terms, we had the stolen election BS, the rise of a populist/loser cabal around Trump (and that's staffing the current Admin), the prosecutions (which, at least in fairness to him, justify some vindictiveness in response), the terrible VP choice spurred on by DJT/Tucker, and Trump's own aging that may Trump 2 an obviously terrible idea. It's living up to that billing.
Could you he turn it around? Sure ... but he'd have to revoke his own policies - especially tariffs and hassling our allies - that he seems to like the most. I'm not optimistic.
