When the time comes, I really hope every single coach of value approached by NU says no thank you unless some admission concessions are built into the deal. I hope they hear it time and again. (Why can I hope, well every coach has come here and killed a career and admissions is a recurring theme so any coach worth his salt is better suited elsewhere unless offered a lifetime, well paying contract.)

I hope it gets so ridiculous, so consistent that the school is forced to decided whether to give in or openly acknowledge by the nature of the hire that they give up on a competitive program. In the latter case, I will bid my interest ado. And mike and the rest of the folks that only care about graduation rates can enjoy their national laughingstock while respectable program.

Or maybe the school will finally yield on academics. (I would even support some form of movement against NU on race inequality if it led to lower standards for the MBB team :) Put that liberal trash to work for something good!)

Or maybe the Ivy League wasn't such a bad idea, after all.

I envision the interviews of the AD candidates going along, then the candidates ask when they can move on from CC. They get the answer, don’t like it, and withdraw their name from consideration.

My Gosh I hope not. One coach (especially this one) should not dictate the future of the entire athletic department.

I was just being a smart a$$. Nobody worth having that position would have that attitude.
I know, I have seen some disaster AD hires (IL, NEB and DePaul). I wish we would get a hint of potential candidates. I think it took about three months from when Murphy left to Phillips getting hired, so I guess this is normal.

Last time I looked it was COLLEGE basketball. Let me check. Yep. Still is.
I really have no interest in watching a bunch of one and done mercenaries. Also, I don't expect them to win the conference. Just don't finish near the bottom every year, and surprise us with a good year now and then. Collins was ok then good, then collapse. How is that recruiting?
And it is laughable that if we lower admissions standards, that recruits will somehow flock to us.

Not disagreeing. But we have learned of several recruits ready to sign and denied by admissions. Change admissions to let the coach have an allowance as long as grad rates remain up and with better coaching, perhaps we have some different results. That is all I’m suggesting. And I hope any potential new coach demands just that or passes on the opportunity.

Sure hasn't hurt Duke's reputation.

How about they give it a try?
