With the Brad Stevens topic it got me to thinking. Coach K isn’t going to be around forever so who exactly do we think could/should replace him. I don’t recall having this conversation on this board in the 12 years I’ve been here. Let’s hear it

We struck gold with K 40 years ago. Our mindset should be to hire a good coach. If we try to "find someone like K," we'll probably strike out. It's almost time for a next chapter, and it doesn't have to be the same theme, setting and characters. I'm fine being patient for the first 3-5 years of the new guy. Let's not be spoiled brats and just support the team even if we stink for a while.
Good topic. The thing is, do we let K finish out until he wants, or do we fire him now to get someone young in place? Something to think about.
Fire him now and maybe we get someone like Roy. K hasn’t done anything with this program in years at least Roy gets players who will stay 4 years.

It will probably be me. Every time we've lost I knew exactly what would have made us win.

yep, and we don't have to get someone from the "family". Those normally just dont work out. WE did that after Bubbas, holes did it after smith, etc. Young energetic and a winner , hopefully, is what Duke hires.

OFCI would throw a ton of money at JJ a few years from now to get him to think about it. He has it all.
It's not going to be Brad Stevens....it will be from K's coaching leagacy.
I would hope that it would be Bobby Hurley. But I think he will be the follow-on coach....kind of like Roy Williams after Matt Doherty.

He is a winner. I think I’ll go with him. And actually Bob Knight is still around he’s probably itching to coach. Maybe he’d take it since he’s in the K line but reversed??
Larry Brown. We need to maintain a program with class and integrity. Can't think of a better individual to demonstrate those qualities than him.
Not the Jimmy Allen I'm thinking of. This Jimmy Allen is now coaching a D1 men's basketball program. He is not well known but I've seen some unknowns become outstanding coaches. OFC

I kinda remember one I think his name was Kryseski or something like that. He has had a decent career. I still remember him coming to Duke and my dad saying " who the hell is that".
Doubt K does a new deal in 2021 when his contract expires so I expect k to coach another 2 years. Which would put him at 74 and no coach in ncaa div 1 college ball history has lasted pass 74. Boeheim is currently 74 but his son is a freshman at Syracuse so I get that.

Yes he has a lifetime contract but it's not on paper his paper deal is through 2021. Of course k can stay longer
